Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Happy Weekend Spartan Families:
We have officially knocked out the first week after spring break and the end of our 3rd grading quarter. Next week, will officially kick off our final quarter of the school year and report cards will be released in Family Access on Friday.
As we gear up for the annual Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) testing, we are asking for your support in helping all students get great rest and arrive to school on time each day. In an effort to help ease the morning rush and keep things comfortable while testing, the SMS Student Council (StuCo) has declared a PAJAMA WEEK.
In preparation for testing students should have the following:
-Fully Charged Chromebook
-Set of plug-in headphones
-Water bottle (optional)
-8th grade only: A calculator (if they prefer to use one that is not imbedded in the test module)
Why IAR is Important
Results from the IAR give parents and families comparable data to understand how their child is progressing and if they are on track for college and career opportunities. The test also provides critical data to schools, districts, and the state to ensure that all students have the support they need to thrive and to modify our supports and instruction accordingly.
IAR participation also impacts a school's overall ratings on the Illinois School Report Card.
