Brief Hospital Notes
Patient referred from GP to clinic to investigate leg pain due to varicose veins.
Leg appeared prominent & odema in calf.
Patient smokes more than 20+ cigarettes from age of 14.
Patient advised to stop smoking & referred to local smoking cessation session .
Dopple test clear, no blood clots
Rx Furosemide 40mg od
15th June 2016
Dorothy seen in clinic. Blood tests revealed low potassium levels
She has now quit smoking
Rx Amiloride 5mg od
8th March current
Admitted to hospital high temp 39 degree : BP 180/94
Increase in urinary frequency, painful. Urine smelly, cloudy
Seems confused
Nausea & vomiting present
Bloods sent for microbiological tests, awaiting results
start on Rx Trimethoprim bd 7 days
