We May All Lack Motivation At Times
At this point in the school year, we may be having difficulty getting motivated to log on to another zoom, read the next chapter, or start writing that first paragraph. Many students (and adults) struggle with staying motivated to complete necessary daily tasks, responsibilities, and chores. Here are a couple of inspirational quotes and a video that will help us take the next step and keep going.
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts. — Winston S. Churchill
If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress. – Barack Obama
This 5-minute engaging video on boosting motivation offers several tips students can begin using right away. We encourage you to watch this video with your student. It’s okay to watch this video more than once. (Adults may also find this video helpful.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be52PDG71TE&feature=youtu.be
If your student would like additional support on getting started or getting organized, encourage them to reach out to a teacher, counselor, or administrator.
We are all here to help!

2021-22 Course Requests
Dear Rock Bridge Families,
Guardians of Secondary Students (current grades 6 – 11) can now view course requests for the 2021-2022 school year in the Family Portal in documents.
Students can also view their 2021-2022 Course Requests in HomeAccess in Classes > Schedule under their 2020-2021 Schedule.
Please login to the Families Portal (parents/guardians) or HomeAccess (students) today to verify that course requests and 2021-22 Learning Mode are accurate in the system!
**Please check to make sure the correct learning mode (In-Seat: 001LMS or Virtual: 001LMV) has been entered for your student** This is how a student’s learning mode will be requested for next year, and students will remain in their chosen learning mode for the full year.
When viewing your student’s course requests, request Type "R" indicates the first choice requests the student made. If a class has a "S" or "C" listed as the request type, those are alternate requests in case the first choices aren't available. Students should have 7 credits of classes and an Advisory, AUT, or Study Hall indicated as Regular requests, and a minimum of 4 course alternates. If your student’s course requests are incomplete, or if they did not choose alternate courses, counselors will choose classes to complete the schedule. If your student requested a CPS Online class, those class titles will not be shown above; instead, you should see the CPS Online Placeholder course.
Please review this information carefully. We will use these requests to build the master schedule for next year and changes will not be possible in the fall. If you want to make changes to 2021-2022 Course Requests, please contact your student's counselor by 4:05 p.m. on Friday, March 12. We will not be able to make changes after this time.
To access the CPS Families Portal visit: https://launchpad.classlink.com/cpsfamilies. You will need your CPS Guardian ID and password to login.
Instructions for accessing requests in the CPS Families Portal are available here: www.cpsk12.org/courserequest
If you have any difficulties accessing the requests or need help retrieving your Guardian ID and/or password, please visit: https://www.cpsk12.org/familyportalfaq . Call your school’s office if you need additional assistance after reading the Family Portal FAQs.
Sincerely,
The Rock Bridge Counseling Team

CPS COVID-19 Update for Families: 5-day Learning
Dear CPS Families:
Beginning April 5, students will move to the next phase of the district’s re-opening plan: 5-day in-person learning. Students enrolled in CPS Virtual or CPSElementary@Mizzou will remain virtual for the remainder of the school year.
The downward trend in cases along with the increasing availability of vaccine doses has allowed the Board of Education to vote to move from the current hybrid learning model to a 5-day learning model. Based on the data and revised guidelines for schools from the CDC released in late February, health experts also advised schools can now move to 5 days a week safely.
We remain vigilant in efforts to protect all CPS students and employees. Moving to the next phase of our district’s re-opening plan requires a continued commitment to a safe and healthy learning environment amid COVID-19. To set us up for success, we all must continue to follow mitigation strategies, including wearing masks, handwashing and keeping students home when they are sick.
Some additional summary information on the move to 5-day learning is attached. You can also view more detailed information in our COVID-19 Re-entry Plan or watch the presentation from last night’s Board of Education meeting at http://cpsk12mo.org/cpstv. The meeting recording will be available on Tuesday.
We will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases in our community and will make adjustments as needed. Over the next several weeks schools will be communicating additional information directly with families. Revised bus routes will be also be available in the coming weeks.
We are ready and we look forward to the next phase of our re-opening.

Rock Bridge High School Ethics Bowl State Champions
On Saturday, February 6, a Rock Bridge Ethics Bowl team comprised of Seniors Amira McKee and Giovanna Durante, and Juniors Abigail Bridgeman, Anjali Ramesh and Zihao Zhao successfully defended their title as State Champions while competing virtually against a handful of students across the state. The National High School Ethics Bowl, founded in 2012 on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, is a program that promotes respectful, supportive, and in-depth discussion of ethics among high school students nationwide. By engaging high school students in intensive ethical inquiry, the NHSEB fosters constructive dialogue and furthers the next generation’s ability to make sound ethical decisions.
Since winning their State Competition, the team secured its second straight berth in the National Ethics Bowl Tournament by defeating the Waverly (NE) Vikings 3-0. Rock Bridge will be competing in the tournament , held virtually on the weekend of April 10-11.
