Analyzing Viola
Identity
Duke is a bachelor that loves Olivia with a passion. Duke is a man that is a great looking dude, but can't seem to get it right with the women. You can tell because he sends letters to her showing his love for her. In Twelfth Night Valentine and Duke say, "How now! What news from her?' So please my lord, I might not be admitted..." (I.i.22-23). This quote shows how much Duke loves Olivia because he is sending people such as Cesario, and Valentine to give her messages that show how much he loves her. Duke Orsino's love for her continues and Duke still tries to go after her...
Gender
Duke explores his gender because he is a man that shows a lot of love for a women that he doesn't know but little does he know that she doesn't like him... In Twelfth Night Olivia says to the messenger Cesario, "Let the garden door be shut, and leave me to be hearing" (III, iii, 84). This quote means that Olivia want to be alone to hear his message. Viola gives her the message and she still says that she has no feelings for him. Once she is told the message she leaves and Duke will get the response as soon as possible. Duke is a real guy because he shows great interment towards women and his love for Olivia, for a women he doesn't even know shows how he is a go getter.
Perception
In the movie, people see duke as a different person. he is a great looking guy that struggles with the ladies. Duke sees Viola as a weird roommate and that he can actually somewhat relate to. Duke shows feelings toward viola in the story, "Boy, thou hast said to me a thousand times Thou never shouldst love like to me" ( V, 1, 258-259). this quote shows how one day you will find your true love and its not worth going after a girl that doesn't even have feeling for him.
Similarties/Differences
To start, duke has a few things in common with Viola. Some of those thing are they both love the game of soccer, moms are both Debutants, and they both hate that boy Justin. These similarities show that these two characters are pretty much alike. Some differences are they're different genders, viola is more outgoing and duke is sensitive, and lastly they both have different skills in soccer. These reason are why they are similar and different.
Identity
Viola thinks of herself as an outgoing girl that thinks she deserves to play on the boys soccer team at Cornwall Academy. She broke up with her boyfriend Justin because he was laughing at her for wanting to join the boys team, and he said something to her that she thought he really meant, but in front of all the guys he told her he never said that. Then, she transferred to Illyria and played soccer there as her brother Sebastian.
Gender
Viola was a girl at a school called Cornwall Academy but recently left that school due to her soccer team being cut. She was furious, transferred to Illyria and tried out for the boys team. She made the team and was named 2nd string. She worked really hard. Duke and her made a deal that if he/she Sebastian helped him get Olivia to go on a date with him he would help he/she to get to 1st string. This has to do with gender because she is in love with duke after going to the kissing booth and duke doesn't know that Sabastian is actually her. A benefit is that in the end she falls in love with him and they walk down that isle and are a very happy couple.
Perception
In the beginning of the story viola and her current boyfriend Justin are happy until he says in front of the boys soccer team that she isn't even close to good enough to be on the boys team.. She dumped him and went home to her mothers house and her mother loves Debutant and she is a big part of that group. Viola on the other hand hates it. she walks up to her room and asks her brother where he is going. He says, he is going to London England for his bands gig. Viola takes advantage of that and pretends to be her brother at Illyria. She get to the dorm room and meets her roommate Duke Orsino. Dukes friends are in the room, and the first thing they think of her when she put that tampon in her noise is that wow your roommate is a dork. She thinks she is acting like a dork herself but she feels bad that her roommate thinks she's weird.
Similarities/Differences
To start, Viola has a few things in common with Duke. Such as they both play soccer, they both hate Cornwall, and they both end up liking each other. In the start of Viola pretending to be her brother Sebastian, she goes into the room and meets Duke but he thinks he's a dork. But once they see him/her in the restaurant talking to all these hot girls they think he is a stud, and immediately want to be friends with her. They start soccer try outs and she is named 2nd string. A little while later Duke makes a deal with Sebastian/Viola that if he can help him that he would help her get to 1st sting. In the end of the movie, Viola tells everyone she is a girl and just wanted a chance to prove that she is just as good as a boy. Duke is mad at her but in the end forgives her. They kiss and go to the Debutant dace together, then start dating.
