Cold Weather Policy
It’s the time of year where we need to start thinking about cold weather. We almost always send students outside for recess - the fresh air and opportunity to run around a bit helps them concentrate so much better in class. Students dressed appropriately (coats, hats, mittens, etc.) are much more comfortable. Please click here for the details of our Cold Weather Policy, including what to do if you desire your student to stay inside for recess.
MONTHLY SAFETY DRILLS
We conduct safety drills each month at school. These drills include fire/evacuation drills, lockdown drills, earthquake drills, and lockout (i.e. shelter-in-place) drills. We held our first lockdown drill in October. Our teachers spent time talking with the students, age-appropriately, about the drills and how to be safe in case of various types of emergencies, but a follow-up conversation at home is always appropriate as their is a wide range of emotion surrounding these topics.
AAPPL ASSESSMENT
Students in 3rd-5th grade in our dual-immersion program will participate in a language test (speaking and listening) end Nov/early Dec. It will measure how proficient they are in Chinese. Your child’s Chinese teacher will provide you with specific dates/times.
SUBSTITUTES WANTED
We are in need of substitute teachers. You can work for the entire district, specify elementary or secondary, or even just our school or a particular classroom … you can choose what days you want and how often you want to work. You register through EDUStaff .
This link has all you need to get started. This is a great way to be part of the Nebo (and Sage Creek) team!
A BIG THANK YOU
A big thank you to our amazing parents for your support with our PTA book fair. Your generosity means a great deal to our school and to our amazing PTA team who bring so many fun events to our school.
