Boxtop News

Thank you to everyone that turned in a super hero collection sheet during the month of April. We received 28 sheets and rewarded each student with a Ring Pop. The last collection sheet for this school year will be sent home this week. Every student that turns in Box Tops will receive a thank you prize. Box Tops can be turned in on collection sheets, or in an envelope or baggie, labeled with the student's name and teacher. We have included a copy of the sheet in this newsletter if you would like to print more.

A Message from Mrs. Hennessey

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month:

During our weekly Counselor lessons, grade-levels have started the Protective Behaviors Unit. During this Unit we focus on the following:

*Ways to Stay Safe: Recognize when something is unsafe, Refuse to participate, and Report anything unsafe to an adult.

*The Always Ask First Rule: Always ask the grown-up in charge first before going somewhere, doing something, or accepting something from someone.

*Recognizing Safe, Unsafe, Unwanted Touches and how to use the Private Body Parts Rules to identify possible sexual abuse.

*How to refuse and report unsafe or unwanted touches and how to report possible sexual abuse to a trusted adult.

To find out more about what we will be learning and to access more resources, check out:

Letters with more details will also be sent home. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know! Thanks for sharing in keeping Bryant kids safe and protected. Here are some suggestions on "How to Start Talking" about these same protective behaviors and safety rules at home.
