The Wild Robot is Coming to WFS!

We will be kicking off our district-wide reading event at West Freehold School on Wednesday, February 1st! Every family will receive their very own copy of The Wild Robot. Be on the lookout for it in your (oldest) child's bookbag that day. Each book will come with a special West Freehold School bookmark which has a suggested reading schedule on the back.

We hope that you are able to make time to get to know our new friend Roz so you can follow along with the adventures that await us!

2023 - The Year of the Rabbit!

Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade students created special artwork in honor of the Lunar New Year on January 22nd! This year we celebrate the Year of The Rabbit!

To add to the excitement, some of our students' artwork is on display at P.F. Chang's in Freehold. All artwork will also be uploaded to Artsonia. Special thanks to our art teacher, Ms. Cook, who assisted our youngest artists!

Winter Weather

It is important your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and is prepared to play outside. Outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of our students’ day. Fresh air, exercise and time spent outdoors afford students a break from the structure of the classroom.

Cold weather clothing allows our students to enjoy being outdoors even when the temperature drops! Please talk to your child about the importance of wearing their jacket/coats outdoors. Thank you!

Important Message From WFS School Nurse, Ms. DeVito

Cold and Flu Season has begun! To prevent the spread of colds and flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. In addition, we have had a number of pink-eye infections at West Freehold School. Our custodians have been kept busy with heavy duty daily cleaning in classrooms as well as our common areas but we need your help with being on the lookout for pink-eye symptoms at home. Thank you!

Reporting a Student Absence

It's that time of year! During the winter season we often see an increase in student absences. Please remember to report the absence to the WFS Main Office (732) 431-5101 by calling our attendance line. This allows us to accurately assess daily attendance and helps us assure all of our students have arrived safely to our building each day.

Next, in order to formally document the student absence and have it considered as an excused absence, a Parent Absence Form must be completed and submitted to the WFS Main Office. These forms are filed and stored as required by the state.

Thank you for your help and understanding!

Important Information About Bus Transportation

In an effort to keep parents/guardians informed of transportation delays to and from school, a "button" has been added to the school district website labeled "Bus Delays." Clicking that button will take parents/guardians to a webpage that lists any transportation delays for the day. Parents/guardians should visit this page prior to calling schools or transportation to inquire about any transportation delays.
