Classroom News!

In keeping with our Baby unit, the children examined baby board books and what made them different from regular books. Each child authored and illustrated a simple baby board book. The care, thought, and creativity put into each book was marvelous! Please take a moment to look at these books with your child. The children's wrists also jingled with sock bracelets that they created during a sewing project.

A highlight of our baby study was a visit from Mrs. Saunders and her baby Gabriel. We had a wonderful presentation about what babies need to grow and how they learn. Gabriel had "tummy time" and we watched him scoot around on his belly and watch all of the Kindergarten children. Mrs. Saunders showed us all the many things she has in Gabriel's diaper bag.

This week we had a special event in the Tech Lab. Along with children all over the world, we participated in the Hour of Code. The children were introduced to the basics of computer coding. Mrs. Opdahl had us follow a code that she created which led us, taking right turns and left turns, out the door of the classroom, down the stairs and the hallway where we each found a treat in just the place she had coded us to go! It was such fun!

Poem of the Week

Calypso Baby

Oh, the baby is chubby chubby chubby (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is cry, cry, cry (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is laugh, laugh, laugh (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is crawl, crawl, crawl (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is messy, messy, messy (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is love, love, love (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.
