Character Strong Recognition for Kindness
Pirates ROCK Recognition for Self-Confidence
Appropriate Masking
When a person has tested positive for COVID-19, we conduct contact tracing. We review seating charts and have conversations with staff. One thing we discuss is whether or not the individuals involved were wearing their mask appropriately (mouth and nose fully covered). If the close contact and the person who tested positive for COVID-19 were both wearing their mask appropriately, the close contacts can remain at school and do not have to quarantine at home. However, if they are not wearing their mask appropriately, they will be required to quarantine at home.
We have gone over this expectation with all students via morning announcements and through videos played in FPC and our 5th grade classroom. We provide constant reminders and explain the rationale to students (safety and avoiding quarantine). Please help reinforce this message to your student(s).

Absence Notifications
- Tardy coming from the last class
- Visiting with our counselor, social worker, nurse, or administration
When a student is marked absent that we know has attended school, we send out a whole staff email to locate the student. If we don't get a response, we begin looking for the student.
If a true absence exists, we will contact parents immediately once we confirm it is a concern. Thanks!

Live School Introduction
On Friday, student and parent access sheets were sent home with your student(s). I highly encourage you to watch this video (37 minutes) and set up your parent account. Student and parent accounts are accessible via apps on phones, as well as on browsers on a computer/tablet.
Live School Reminder
As you create your parent accounts this weekend, beginning next week you will begin to see additions (and possibly deductions) throughout the week. We ask that you touch base with your student to process the why behind any deductions prior to reaching out to staff for clarification.

Band Instrument Rental Night
Meyer Music Rental Night
Monday, August 30th in the Band Room at Barry
Percussion and Woodwinds: 6:30-7:15 pm
Brass: 7:15-8:00 pm
Students will get their instrument, band book, care kit, and also their locker that night to keep the instrument in. If they have been assigned to the French horn, baritone, or tuba, they will not be renting an instrument, but will be acquiring their own personal mouthpiece. A brochure was sent home with students Thursday with average costs for each instrument, as well as information on the supplies. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Brazier at brazierm@platteco.k12.mo.us. GO BAND!
Fall Student Athletes - Locker Room Access
Upon return from Platte City beginning on Monday, he will be present to allow athletes into the boys and girls locker rooms to store their equipment if needed. He will meet them on the front patio and escort them to the side door to the gym to give them direct access to the locker rooms. After the students are done, he will lock the locker room doors. He will then escort the students back to the front patio for pick up.
There are only two situations where he cannot do this:
- Last Thursday of each month.
- Fridays due to being pulled to the HS for football support.
- Students can take equipment home for weekend storage and cleaning.
