Message from Mrs. Ready
Happy October Families!
I hope this fall is finding your family happy and healthy. Our school community has “fall-en” into great learning and school routines. We are looking forward to welcoming students into some exciting leadership opportunities- we’ll have some aspiring leaders showing us the wildcat way! I want to thank our PTSA partners for the successful sunny Saturday book fair, it was great to see so many families and we appreciate your support for our students!
In this next month we’ll be looking forward to our 4th and 5th graders taking the delayed Smarter Balanced Assessment (state assessment) please watch for information on which days this will be taking place. In addition to the bigger state assessments our classes have been assessing learning in many areas and are setting goals for student growth.
As a school we are forming our plan towards belonging (we will be using family, student and staff climate and culture data), systems of support (addressing behavior and academic needs), and high expectations for learning (through high quality professional learning communities). Our LWES staff partnered with you at home will be striving to meet these goals for student success! Thank you for continuously supporting your wildcat in so many ways.
Have a great weekend!

Elementary Remote Access
In the event that an elementary student needs to quarantine, or if we are forced to move into remote/hybrid learning, we want to ensure that all elementary students have home computer access. For clarity, there is currently no expectation that we will be switching to remote/hybrid learning at any grade level, but we want to be fully prepared in case the state requirements change.
To that end, we would like elementary families to indicate whether or not their student(s) would need to temporarily borrow a computer from us to provide home access. Knowing in advance helps us ensure we can get students what they need in a timely manner.
We are asking all our elementary families to please log into Skyward Family Access and complete the Elementary Remote Access Needs form for each elementary student in your family to indicate whether or not you have computer and/or internet access needs.
News from Nurse Shawn
Hello families!
As expected, we are noticing an increase in student absences due to illness. Our front office/nurse team is working hard to keep track of all the absences, but we need your help! If you need to report an absence for your child(ren), please contact the attendance line FIRST through the main office number. This will greatly help our team to notify staff/teachers of the absence and begin the process of contacting families for guidance on returning to school. After you have reported the absence, be sure to check your email for communication from the nurse on how your child can return to school. Your child must be cleared to return by our staff before coming back to the building. If you have questions, please email: lwnurse@tahomasd.us

PTSA Reflections Information
Reflections Overview For Families and Students
Welcome to the WSPTA Reflections program!
Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.
Students in pre-K through grade 12 create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for the 2021-2022 program year is I Will Change The World By… Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity through positive recognition, finalists from local PTAs will move on to their council PTA (if applicable), then finalists from councils will move on to the state round. Washington State PTA finalists who receive an “Outstanding Interpretation” award will advance to the National PTA round. National PTA Reflections awards for 2020-2021 can be found here.
Young artists get involved by contacting their local PTA leaders. The deadline for turning in artwork to our PTSA is Friday, October 29.

PTSA Save the Date for Our Trunk or Treat at LWES
Happy Friday, Wildcats!
This year instead of the traditional Harvest Party, our amazing PTSA will host a Trunk or Treat on October 30 from 1-4pm. They are asking for volunteers to sign up their vehicles HERE.
Additionally, there will be a candy drive happening the week of October 18-22. The class with the most candy (by weight) will win a special treat and a chance to visit the Trunk or Treat event twice!
Flyers are being printed to go home with students, but if you are interested in sending this digital copy to your families, feel free!
Lost and Found Information
Dear Wildcats,
If your student has lost an item, the Lost and Found is now available to access after school when the students are gone Monday-Thursday between 3:20-4:00. Please check in at the Main Office and we can direct you to the Lost/Found Closet.
Our closets are starting to get full. One way to avoid that is putting your student(s) name on their clothing so our staff can deliver them when found.
