Cougar Courier
Greetings from Dr. Garcia!
October 26, 2019
This week we welcomed police officers from Trinity Security Group to our building. We will now have a police officer in the building every day from 12:30-4:30. The addition of the officer in the building provides added security and opportunities for our scholars to interact positively with local law enforcement agencies.
In case you missed it, we have a new food service vendor at South Bend Schools. Please check out this link for the menus: https://sb.nutrislice.com/menus-eula.
Thank you to all of the parents who came to Parent Teacher Conferences. We are looking forward to a great second quarter. Remember to share the information you learned from your scholars' teachers to help them reflect on how to finish the semester strong.
Middle School Parents: We need your help supporting our middle school scholars. We implemented some new procedures this week to help decrease the number of tardies and to increase time on task. Scholars should be on time to class and should come prepared with their materials. Phones should not be out and should not be used during the instructional time period. We encourage you to send messages through the school office and to only text or call your child before or after school.
Additionally, please encourage scholars to be actively engaged in their learning. Scholars can show they are engaged by asking questions, participating appropriately, using time wisely, keeping track of assignments, and responding appropriately to redirection.
Please make sure scholars are not wearing jeans or leggings to school.
School Events:
Wednesday, October 30th is the Showcase of Schools at Century Center. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to explore school options in the South Bend Community School Corporation. I highly encourage parents of 8th graders to attend. It takes place from 6:00-7:30 pm.
On Thursday, October 31st, our elementary students will have the opportunity to dress up and participate in a hallway parade. Scholars should bring their costumes with them to school.
Trivia Night is November 8th. Please sign up using the link in the flyer.
Blessings,
Dr. Garcia
