Book Review

The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence is another book by author Stan Lee. This book is a very fast-paced fantasy novel about zodiac powers. In the Chinese calendar there a twelve rotating years each with a different animal. In this book those powers are leaked out from pools at a huge underground zodiac. Usually it is leaked in small amount but every 144 years they are released in huge amounts and Maxwell wants to control them. When a boy, Steven, worried about his tour guide stumbles upon this, he gets thrown into the middle up a global battle with superpowers like no one has ever seen.

In my opinion I thought this book was very good at entertwining the fantasy aspect with the history and culture of the chinese zodiac. It was a good spin on a sometime overused story plot. When I first heard about it I thought it would either be a weird chinese historical fiction or some book about magic powers and superheroes saving the world. I though this book did a good job of making itself blend those together to make more of a chinese, zodiac power-leaking, saving the world, and good conquering evil withouth the cheesiness and corniness of what you would expect. A good example of this is when Maxwell is trying to get all the zodiac powers. It took out the cheesiness of him accidentaly stumbling into a science place and somehow getting bit by a mutant spider that gave him powers. For a change he actually wanted the powers and had people working for him that were giving him those powers. It was a good book that wasn't the normal but felt oddl familiar as you read it(in a good way). I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to almost anybody.
