SLVE the greatest place to BE!
5th Grade Students Present at Board Meeting
A few of our SLVE 5th Grade students visited the SLVUSD Board Meeting on Wednesday to present their 5th Classroom Community Building, Constitutions and Economies program. The students, along with their teachers, did a great job of presenting what this program looks like in their 5th grade classrooms. It took a lot of self confidence and poise to present to such a large group of people. They did a great job and everyone learned a lot!

If your student is registered for Band, we'll be having our first rehearsal next week on Thursday afterschool from 3pm-4:30pm. If your student has their instrument and book already, have them bring it with them.

Independent Studies Contract
An Independent Studies contract may be set up for students who will be missing school for any duration lasting longer than 3 days. It is very important that you contact our SLVE Registrar and your teacher to let them know that your child will be absent for this extended period of time and that they will need to complete the Independent Studies Contract.
SLVUSD Free Narcan Distribution September 10th 9:00-1:00
Santa Cruz County Office of Education is partnering with Santa Cruz Community Health and SLVUSD to offer free Narcan in San Lorenzo Valley on Sunday Sept. 10th from 9am-1pm. In addition to this life saving tool families are welcome to meet with staff in the Park and Walk up area and gather parent guides on how to have difficult conversations with Youth about the risks of substances. We hope this normalizes how hard it is to be a parent and in turn, reduces stigma. This will be the third Narcan distribution event, with the first one in April at Cabrillo College, and then again in June at Watsonville High School. Hope to see you there! And four-legged friends are more than welcome too.
