STUDENT DISPLAYS WORK IN TEEN ART SHOW

Bedford Junior High Art Student Ethan Rangel’s art will be displayed in the Bedford Public Library as part of the Teen Art Show from Oct. 15-31. The public will be asked to vote for their favorites and winners will be awarded Amazon gift cards.
BJH FALL CHOIR CONCERT
BJH STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR ALL-REGION CHOIR
Congratulations to the following 7th and 8th graders who competed in the All-Region Contest Saturday, October 13th and placed in the All-Region Choirs. These students learned music on their own and sang in a blind audition. They competed against schools from all over the area and will get to perform in a clinic and concert on November 3rd at R.L. Turner High School.

MAKERS CLUB BUILDS CATAPULTS!
This week in Maker Club the students were challenged to build a catapult that launched candy pumpkins across the library. The students worked hard and did real-time research to figure out all the scientific forces at play to make their catapult the most effective. The competition was fierce and some of our catapults were able to launch pumpkins over 30 feet! Way to go, Bronco Makers! Make sure you are a part of our November Maker Club on the 14th! #broncosMAKE"

You don’t get excited about books like Mrs Crumby gets excited about books. Here is the best librarian in the district engaging with 60 students at a time keeping them on the edge of their seats getting students excited about reading!

Rowan is a wonderful student to have in class! He is the Student Council President, works hard in all of his classes, and he plays sports. He is a very well rounded student and always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs help.

Canton comes to class prepared to learn every day! She has a smile on her face and a great attitude.
JORDAN FLEMING
Jordan is an awesome young man. He comes to class ready to learn. He is enthusiastic, and a positive influence. He is always willing to help others.
LAINEY PARKER
Lainey has been nothing but outstanding since the first day of school. She puts her best foot forward and will not settle for anything less than best. I can always count on her to be a perfect example of what a bronco should look like.
KELLAN CHASE
Kellan has been an excellent and conscientious Science student from day one. He always works hard to give complete answers with fabulous explanations. Kellan is not only a great student but also a great person. He works well with his classmates, and takes time to explain when even one person isn’t understanding a concept. He is kind and a very hard worker

ACADEMIC PLANNING GUIDE DESIGN CONTEST
We are, once again, having a student contest to design the covers of our 2019/2020 Academic Planning Guides. The winner will have their name, school, and graduation year featured on the back of the chosen cover design.

Specifications for final design:
- Final Designs must be in .pdf format
- The official HEB ISD Logo should be somewhere in the design
- The designer’s name, school, and graduation year should appear somewhere in the design
- 300 dots per inch or 300 pixels per inch
- CMYK for 4 color processing
- No RGB or RGB photos in the document
- CMYK photos are acceptable
- Landscape orientation placed 17 “ wide by 11“tall.
- The design will be folded to create a front and back cover– stapled in the center.
- Do not be campus specific in their designs. This book is for HEB, not a particular campus. Both sides of the district need to be included if photos are being used.
- If you want color to extend all the way to the edges of the page, then add ¼ inch to the entire document making it 17 ¼” by 11 ¼”. (Extend color to the edges of the enlarged size, as 1/8 will be trimmed off all the way around.)
The deadline to submit designs is Friday, November 9th. Designs should be submitted to Carla Docken electronically. carladocken@hebisd.edu
BACK TO SCHOOL YEARBOOK PRICE EXTENDED!
BJH Families – I apologize for the issues with online ordering. At this point I would forget about ordering online and send in payment on campus. Cash or checks made out to BJH may be dropped off in C109 with Mrs. Keneda. I will accept the $40 amount through Friday October 19 since there have been so many issues. If you are interested in adding a name stamp it is $10 additional and adding two symbols (football, cheer, etc.) is an additional $10. Example: book plus name stamp plus symbols would be $60. Please mark clearly on the order form what you would like and include a phone number in case I need to follow up with you. Again, I apologize for the online ordering issues. Balfour has never had these issues before but what a mess this year! As always, I am available by email at susannahkenda@hebisd.edu
Picture retakes are Tuesday, October 30 during lunches. Students will need to bring their old pictures to retakes in order to take their pictures again. Pictures will be send home next week for parents to view. If you have any questions, please contact Susannah Keneda at susannahkeneda@hebisd.edu.

Please consider helping out your kids school by volunteering a little of your time. Bedford Junior High offers multiple opportunities that currently need some assistance. Morning Crosswalk Duty, Workroom Responsibilities, and as always Concession Sales on Fridays and game days. We would love to see you involved in your kids school and this is a great way to start.

ATHLETIC RESULTS
9TH GRADE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the 9th grade Lady Broncos volleyball team for defeating Richland High School last Friday night 25-13, 25-16.
Once again the service pressure was led by Grace and Emma Okruch, along with Sydney Still. The attack was led by Paige Looney and Jayden Rhodes. The defense was led by Christallyn Tate, Hallie Rhodes, Delanie Butler and Madison Morgan.
Congratulations to the 9th grade Lady Broncos volleyball team for defeating Central Jr. High Tuesday night in two straight sets. 25-10, 25-14.
The service pressure was put on by Sydney Still, Grace Okruch, Delanie Butler, Emma Okruch and Paige Looney. The defensive effort was led by Christallyn Tate, Hallie Rhodes, Madison Morgan. The offensive attack was headed by Jayden Rhodes, Kylie Eiserloh, and Emma & Grace Okruch. This team has had an outstanding season and is currently 2nd place in the High School district and undefeated in HEB with one game remaining next Tuesday vs Trinity. Way to go Lady Broncos volleyball!
8TH GRADE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Volleyball A team. They finished first in the Hurst Tournament this past weekend.
In bracket play they defeated Hurst, Haltom, and Euless in the championship match! In the second game against Euless, Canton Lipham served six straight to come from behind at 20 to 24 for the win. In the final game of that match, Mallory Still served up 10 points in a roll to lead the Broncos to the championship. Macey Mercer, McKinley Giffin, and Maggie Lewis dominated play throughout the tournament. Awesome plays and team work by MaKyagh Morgan, Reagan Warren, Sydney Knight, and Daniella Peterson.
Congratulations to both the A and B 8th Grade Volleyball teams they defeated Hurst Monday.
Awesome plays and serves for the A team were by Macey Mercer, McKinley Giffin, & MaKyagh Morgan. B team came out victorious after losing the first set. Great leadership on the court by Kaliyah Johnson, outstanding service by Emma Lasoi, and big hits by Carlii Summers and Sophie Campbell.
7TH GRADE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the 7th grade Lady Broncos team #1 for winning the championship at this past weekend's Euless Jr. High volleyball tournament. This team won every set the entire tournament and played with great determination! Way to Go Lady Broncos Volleyball!

Leading the service pressure was Sydney Eiserloh, Cate Rolf, and Eleanor Sebastian. Great service was backed up by excellent ball control shown by Kaitlin Tietjen, Natalie Vogt and Ashlyn Lorenz. The spike attack was led by Ashlynn Miller, Skylar Henley and Ashlynn Winborne. Another great team win! Way to go Lady Broncos Volleyball!
Winner winner chicken dinner! The 7th grade Girls B Team defeated Hurst Monday night with scores of 25-11 and 25-16!
Leading scorers were : Ms Riley Corbin with a amazing run of 10 points and Sophia Debellis with a 7points in a row. Congrats for another great game.
9TH GRADE FOOTBALL
Thursday night the Freshmen Broncos fell to a tough Hurst team.
The defense showed many bright spots and held the Hurst offense under wraps for most of the game. Walker Wolfe, Nolan Cornish, Chance Willis and Jackson Anderson led the Bronco defense with hard hits and multiple tackles for loss. Kristian Hardin led the Bronco rushing attack while Colby Nelson, Brayden Pasley and Andoni Del Solar led the receiving core. Next week, the Broncos take on San Angelo Central on Thursday. Keep fighting Broncos.
8TH GRADE FOOTBALL
The 8th grade football A team lost a tough game against Hurst Junior High school Tuesday at LD Bell High school.
The team battled adversity and tough conditions all night to stay competitive. Running back Montres Hardeman ran the ball for tough yards all nigh andt Roderick Hale scored a touchdown on an 80 yards kickoff return. Defenders Nathan Setford, Logan Arnett and Matthew Mcgrath stepped up and played multiple roles to help the Bronco defensive effort stay strong. The short handed Broncos maintained their effort and energy throughout the game and we are proud of their dedication to the team. The A Teams looks to get back on track next Tuesday against Euless Junior High at Pennington Stadium.
The 8th grade B team won a hard fought game against Hurst Junior High Tuesday afternoon with a final score of 12 to 7.
Running Back Tristan Pravong ran for tough yards all afternoon and Evan Ventrca and Alexis Gonzalez both scored on long touchdown runs to add to the Bronco total. Defenders Hasan AL Noubani and Jackson Boswell both had interceptions to help limit the Hurst offensive attack. Steven Summerfield, Brandon Morrison and Adrian Phillips played terrific all afternoon to keep the Hurst offense to one score the entire game. The B team also looks to keep things going next Tuesday against Euless Junior High at Pennington Stadium. Great job B team and keep up the good work.
7TH GRADE FOOTBALL
The 7th grade A lost a tough battle in the rain on Wednesday night at LD Bell.
The Broncos we’re leading the Raiders 14-13 at the half, but failed to get in the end zone in the second half. Hurst added 2 touchdowns to beat the Broncos 25-14. Elijah Zamora and Tristan Johnson found the end zone for the Broncos. And, Jacoby Duncan caught a deep pass from Brayden Shives. Manning Campbell and Jacoby Duncan led the defense for the Broncos with multiple big hits.
The 7th grade B team fought through a monsoon and continued to dominate the competition on Wednesday.
Isaac Watkins scored twice. Kenyon Hardin and Jonah Due each scored once to help beat Hurst 27-0 to improve to 5-0 on the year. Trenton Mitchell, Carson Walker, Michael Hovland, and Daniel Atilano were dominate on defense all night. Great job B team!
