First Grade News
May 2nd-May 6th
We will have our spelling Pre-Test for our long vowel word chunk -ide. We will brainstorm new words with the -ide word chunk. We will have reading groups and centers. We will finish creating our PIC Collage for our selected poem. We will begin to learn about animal groups. We will learn about one animal group each day this week. What makes an animal a mammal? We will play a measurement game called silent ordering. We will measure with paper clips. We will sort and compare different rocks. There IS a math video for homework tonight---See Google Classroom----Values of Penny and Nickel.
We will practice making words with the -ide word chunk. We will have reading groups and centers. We will learn about GREEN SCREEN FUN and how we can create a new project using this technology. We will learn about a new animal group. We will have math centers. We will learn about the value of pennies and nickels. There IS NOT a math video tonight.

Day 4 Art
We will play spelling sparkle. We will have reading groups and centers. We will practice the poems for our program. We will have some special visitors from Carpenter Nature Center to teach us more about animal groups. Maybe they will bring some REAL animals??? We will practice counting pennies, dimes, and nickels. There is a math video tonight----The Value of a Quarter.
We will have our FINAL spelling test for the word chunk -ide. We will have reading groups and centers. We will practice the poems for our program. We will learn about another animal group. We will work on our Green Screen Projects. We will make a rainbow. There IS NOT a math video tonight for homework.
THESE ARE MATH VIDEOS FOR HOMEWORK THIS WEEK! PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GO TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR THE ASSIGNMENTS. WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT COUNTING COINS. THIS TAKES A LOT OF PRACTICE OVER TIME. PLEASE PRACTICE THIS SKILL AT HOME.
Please remember to charge you child's iPad at home each night. We use the iPad a lot at school and it is difficult when the iPad has limited charge or no charge.

Friday, May 20th! We will have our parent program at school. All parents/families are encouraged to attend. Our program will be at 12:45 and will last about an hour.
Friday, June 3rd! Our annual field trip to the MN Zoo. We encourage all families to join us for the trip to the zoo at a greatly discounted admission price. Siblings (not current Middleton students) are encouraged to join us. This is an all day trip. I Sent a survey out to all families about the trip. PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN PLAN FOR THE TRIP! See the link below if you did not respond as of yet.
BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ADULTS TO ATTEND THE ZOO FIELD TRIP WITH THE CLASS! GET YOURS EARLY!!!! BACKGROUND CHECKS REMAIN IN FORCE AS LONG AS YOU VOLUNTEER AT LEAST ONCE PER YEAR! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED THE FORMS. OR SEE THE LINK BELOW FOR BOTH NEEDED FORMS.
Did you know the entire school needs to be packed for the summer due to construction? With the daunting task ahead the school board has adjusted the last day of school for Middleton students. Our last day of school will NOW be on June 9th.
We need to know how many adults plan to join us for the trip to the MN Zoo, on Friday June 3rd. The tickets to the zoo need to be pre-ordered. THANKS!
