Important Information from our Patton Nurse:
Per AISD policy:
Please do not send your student to school if they are not feeling well. If you feel that they won't make it through the day, they should not be at school. When your child is sick and is given pain/fever reducing medication before school, that is treating the symptoms for an amount of time instead of monitoring the symptoms at home or taking them to their general practitioner. This is also exposing other kids to your child's illness. The School Health team does not diagnose students. That is out of our scope of practice. We can recommend seeking a high level of care, but please don't rely soley on our knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat your child.
If your child comes to the health room stating they don't feel well and was told they could call their parent if they dont feel better, we will send them home immediately. They will then not be able to come to school for 24 hours until symptoms improve.
We do not keep Tylenol/Motrin in the health room for student use. We cannot give your child medication without a doctor's prescription and a medication authorization filled out. If your child needs medication during the school day, we must have a prescribing physicians order and parent/guardians' signature on file.
We are here to be a bridge for students' health. We are not their sole health management. Any additional concerns with your child's health need to be addressed by their medical provider.
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep all of our Pioneers safe and healthy ~ we appreciate you!
