"Flash of lightning illuminated the object and discovered its shape plainly to me; its gigantic stature, and the deformity of its aspect, more hideous than belongs to humanity, instantly informed me that it was the wretch, the filthy demon to whom he had given life." Chapter 7, pg. 60 The creature here learns that he is hideous, and that his creator has abandoned him in life. He has much hate for victor for making him wretch, and continues learning more about his life.
Depth of Knowledge Chart
A chart showing different levels of knowledge, and how it can be very complex or simple. "'When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, the, a monster, a blot upon the earth from which all men fled and whom all men disowned?'" Chapter 13, pg. 105 The creature now learns no one is like him, and he is a one of a kind. He is not pleased about this at all since everyone is terrified of him.
A chart showing where society is smarter than others in today's' world. Also this quote "The world was to him a secret which he desired to divine. Curiosity, earnest research to learn the hidden laws of nature, gladness akin to rapture, as they were unfolded to him, are among the earliest sensations he can remember . . . It was the secrets of heaven and earth that he desired to learn; and whether it was the outward substance of things or the inner spirit of nature and the mysterious soul of man that occupied him, still his inquiries were directed to the metaphysical, or in it highest sense, the physical secrets of the world." Chapter 2, pg. 22-3 tells us that the creature is learning everything about the world, and how everything operates. He gains knowledge on his senses, and what to do.
The creature undergoes many life tasks alone, and all he can do is gain knowledge to help him survive without a guide or an instructor. "As he heard it, the whole truth rushed into his mind, his arms dropped, the motion of every muscle and fibre was suspended; he could feel the blood trickling in his veins and tingling in the extremities of his limbs." Chapter 23, pg. 177 The creature acquires the truth of what really happened and becomes hopeless.
