Math Materials Available for Review
A selection of potential math textbooks are available to view at the District Office in the main lobby. The teachers will be meeting March 21 (middle school) and April 12 (elementary) to provide feedback and give recommendations. Any parent/guardian or staff member wishing to review the materials and provide any feedback may do so by visiting the district office and/or emailing Lori Fury at lfury@wpusd.org. Any feedback received before March 21 or April 12 will be shared with them.
Scratch Made Food Coming Soon
The WPUSD Food Service Department has partnered with Brigaid to offer scratch made meals for our students and hands-on professional development for our Food Service team.
During the week of February 22nd, we hosted two amazing Brigaid chefs at LHS, TBHS, TBE and FRE.
The menus featured BBQ chicken, cornbread and roasted carrots at the high schools, and and the primary schools, we offered grass fed beef tacos, yellow rice and elote salad. We had really positive student feedback and look forward to Brigaid coming back the week of March 20th to prepare more delicious scratch made meals!
More on Scratch Made Foods. . .
Food Service Director, Christina Lawson, has been accepted into the Chef Ann Foundation 2023 Cohort of the Healthy School Food Pathway Fellowship program! The HSFP Fellowship Program will develop the next generation of diverse leaders in scratch-cook school food operations that can support a sustainable program and drive school food reform. Over a 12-month period, operators will grow their skills, knowledge and abilities through live, virtual learning sessions; in-person site visits and training; asynchronous, self-led instruction; and engagement within their own districts to implement their new ideas.
Field Trip Lunches
Lunches served during field trips are getting an upgrade. We have brought in better, high quality meats and cheeses from Highland Beef Farms for our field trip lunches. Meals will now include chicken or turkey bites, cheese cup, fresh fruit or fruit cup, pretzels or crackers, Apple & Eve 100% juice box and a locally made cookie from Fat Cat Bakery. All students will continue to have the option of selecting a fresh vegetable and choice of milk.
Bus Routes & Transportation
Spring Semester Bus Passes are now Available!
We want to remind families all students riding the bus are required to have a 2022/2023 school year bus pass. The 2022/2023 Bus Pass application is available by clicking here.
Bus Driver Shortage
Come join our great team of drivers! WPUSD has not been exempt from the nationwide school bus driver shortage. Earned Income Tax Credit Information Act
NOTIFICATION
Based on your annual earnings, you may be eligible to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit from the Federal Government (Federal EITC). The Federal EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. The Federal EITC has no effect on certain welfare benefits. In most cases, Federal EITC payments will not be used to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, food stamps, low-income housing, or most Temporary Assistance For Needy Families payments. Even if you do not owe federal taxes, you must file a federal tax return to receive the Federal EITC. Be sure to fill out the Federal EITC form in the Federal Income Tax Return Booklet. For information regarding your eligibility to receive the Federal EITC, including information on how to obtain the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Notice 797 or any other necessary forms and instructions, contact the IRS by calling 1-800-829-3676 or through its website at www.irs.gov.
You may also be eligible to receive the California Earned Income Tax Credit (California EITC) starting with the calendar year 2015 tax year. The California EITC is a refundable state income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. The California EITC is treated in the same manner as the Federal EITC and generally will not be used to determine eligibility for welfare benefits under California law. To claim the California EITC, even if you do not owe California taxes, you must file a California income tax return and complete and attach the California EITC Form (FTB 3514). For information on the availability of the credit eligibility requirements and how to obtain the necessary California forms and get help filing, contact the Franchise Tax Board at 1-800-852-5711 or through its website at www.ftb.ca.gov.

📝Inter/Intra District Transfers NEW!
🎓CalKids College Savings Account NEW!
🚨Update Your Emergency Contact Information
2023-2024 Transfers (where applicable)
Both intradistrict (within WPUSD) and interdistrict (out of WPUSD) processes are now open. As a reminder, both transfer processes require annual submission in order to continue attending a school outside of your designated boundary. Placement is not guaranteed - we have an obligation to serve students within their residential boundary prior to approving transfers.
Intradistrict (within WPUSD)
Please be sure to get your intra's in early, as priority acceptance for HIGH SCHOOL ONLY ends on February 16, 2023 at 4pm.
Interdistrict (out of WPUSD)
This process is a bit different this year! The process is fully online using Informed K12. We began accepting interdistrict transfers on February 1, 2023
CalKids College Savings Account
Did you know that your student can be awarded a $500 college savings account if your family qualifies as low-income?
It’s true! California has begun a program called CalKIDS to give low-income students a jump start on saving for college. Additionally, if your family receives McKinney-Vento support from the district, your student qualifies for another $500. (Families are not required to contribute any additional money.)
When low-income students graduate from high school and attend an eligible school, whether it be a 4-year university, community college, or trade school, they can use the money on things like:
Tuition and related fees
Books and required supplies
Certain room and board costs
Computer equipment
How Do I Know If My Student Qualifies?
Students have to qualify as low-income, be in grades 1-12, and have attended a California school for at least one full year.
This sounds awesome! How do I sign up?
You need to register on the CalKIDS online portal. You will not be asked to disclose any taxpayer identification numbers.
- Your child’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID). See next section for how to access that information.
- Your child’s date of birth.
- The name of the county where your child was enrolled in school in October of LAST school year (2021-2022). For us, that would be Placer County.
How do I find my child’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID)?
Your child’s SSID is found on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. When you log in, you’ll see a purple SSID icon next to your child’s name at the top of the screen. If you click on that purple icon, a window will pop up with the number that you need.
What if the CalKIDS website doesn’t recognize my student’s SSID number?
That means we probably don’t have a household income form on file that indicates your income falls within the range to qualify your child. Fill out the household income form as the first step to qualifying your child!

Review/Update Your Emergency Contact Information
Online access is now LIVE!
If you haven't done so already, you will need to review your child’s emergency contact and health information for any updates. When reviewing and updating your child’s information, you will also be electronically signing your child’s 2022-2023 Technology Use and Waiver Agreements, Student Health Insurance option, and Photo Release Opt-Out Forms.
Please contact your child's SCHOOL office if you have any questions. If you've already completed this process, no action is needed. If you have not completed this process, it may impact your child's ability to attend school events and use district technology.
**If don't have a Parent Portal account you should have received an email or letter with information and instructions to set up your account. If did not receive an email or letter or you forgot your student’s Access ID/Password, please contact your child’s SCHOOL and they can help.**
