Welcome back Wamsley Families! After being one of only 17% of school districts that accomplished in person learning from beginning to end last year, we are again off to an AMAZING start this year! It is so great to have you and your children back from summer break and in the building! We are working hard to ensure that we remain healthy so we can have another productive school year here at Wamsley! Over the last week, the leadership team has focused on evaluating our protocols to ensure our current in person learning is as safe as possible and that we are ready to easily pivot to online learning should quarantines arise. Our goal at Wamsley is to remain healthy and open so that we can provide your children with a familiar school experience that includes the academic and experiential experiences they have received in the past.
The Wamsley Zoo is back again! All the pets missed everyone over the summer and are glad to hear the hustle and bustle in the halls every day again. This year Wesalina the turtle has an outdoor enclosure! She enjoys her days interacting with your children at recess and swimming in her little pond. Stop by and see her some time. :) Coming soon to your child’s backpack is a new school wide assignment for your child and family related to the pets! Every child in the school will have a chance to have an adventure for a week with a stuffed Wesalina or stuffed tree frog. Your adventures with your stuffed pet will be recorded by your child with pictures and/or drawings and a written journal that will be shared in class.

Upcoming Events and a few reminders:
September promises to be busy for us at Wamsley with our first ever Experiential Education EXPO parent night on Sept 30th from 5:30-7:30pm. Please look for more information in Thursday folders and in our weekly update.
Also, please join us for our first PTAC meeting of the 2021-22 school year on the front lawn at 4pm on Tuesday, September 7th. We will have translation.
I want to thank you for your cooperation during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal. We are moving quicker each day and now have all students dismissed by 4pm each day. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. Please remember:
- the bus lane is NOT for morning drop off or dismissal pick up
- please drop off and pick up your children in the east loop ONLY
- please do not drop off your students late when no one is on duty to greet them
- you will need to bring your children to the office to sign them in late
- if you wish to pick up your children at dismissal you MUST use the east loop drive thru lane
- please have the required pink cards visible in your vehicle to pick up your children
- please do NOT try to park and enter the building to pick up your children
- please call the office BEFORE 3pm with any changes to your child’s dismissal routine
We need your help! Please help us all stay in school by continuing to keep your children home when they don’t feel well. Also, if anyone in your household is being tested for COVID, everyone in the home should quarantine. If you are not sure what to do, please call the office and we will help you assess whether your child should come to school. Remember your students may use their school issued computers to access their google classrooms any time they are home sick. We just ask that you only use this option for your sick children. This is not meant to replace in person learning and should not be used as an excuse to stay home.
We have only a handful of families left that still need to complete their registration updates. Please remember that your students will not be allowed to bring home their school issued computers until the update has been completed. If you still need to update, CLICK HERE TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE REGISTRATION PORTAL FOR RETURNING STUDENTS.
Thank you for sharing your children with us and for all you do to help make our school a great place! Please check the Sunday weekly email for important information and details about all our upcoming events! As always, call or stop in and let us know how we are doing.

My name is Ms. Brusig (Ms. B) and I am the K-5 Experiential Education (EE) teacher for this year. We will be focusing on field experiences that match the seasons - for example: harvesting the Wamsley garden in October, and snowshoeing in the winter months. Our first EE Family Night will be September 30th, where families will get the opportunity to learn about EE more by doing hands-on learning and problem solving with their Wildcat. We are super excited to get into hiking, camping, fishing, shelter building, cooking, and other essential life skills.
