Te Aroha Primary School
Term 4 Week 9 2022
PRINCIPAL / TUMUAKI MESSAGE
Kia ora parents and whānau,
Just like that, this is the last newsletter for 2022. I have been at TAPS for 3 terms and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead our fantastic kura. The staff, students and our TAPS whānau of parents and community members have been extremely welcoming. It has been really nice coming back to my old home town, rebuilding relationships and forging new ones as well. I feel very comfortable walking through the playground, I don’t think there’s too many names that I don’t know…next year I can work on meeting more parents and further build those relationships, you’re very important too!
Tonight is our Year 7 & 8 social where we celebrate our seniors, in particular our Year 8 students who are leaving us for a variety of High schools within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. I am looking forward to this event and the opportunity to mix them one more time before they depart our school for the final time on Thursday.
We have our End of Year prize giving this Wednesday morning, starting at 11:00am in the hall, please be seated in advance of that time to help us with the smooth running of this event.
Our last day of school for 2022 is this Thursday 15 December. We will be finishing at 12:00pm. Our first day back in 2023 is Tuesday 31 January, with the school office being open 26th and 27th January for all your enrolment, stationery and uniform requirements.
Classroom swap - just to let you know that Mrs J and Miss Swan are swapping classrooms next year. The classroom that is currently Room 1 will become Room 3 and vice versa.
Swimming pool - the swimming pool will be up and running for Day 1 of the new term. All new students to Te Aroha Primary School get a free dry bag for togs and towel on enrolment, everyone else is welcome to purchase one for $10 from the school office.
Have a safe and happy Christmas and an enjoyable New Year. To those leaving - kia hora te marino, kia whakapapa te moana, kia tere te kārohirohi i mua i tōu huarahi - may the calm be widespread, may the ocean glisten as greenstone, may the shimmer of light ever dance across your pathway.
To those that we will welcome back next year - ko the ahurei o te tamaiti arahia o tatou mahi - let the uniqueness of the child guide our work.
kia ora, poroporoaki, ka kite koe i tera tau - Goodbye, farewell. See you all next year.

Week 9- where did the time go? This week we will have some fun on the 2 full days we have in class. Looking at Christmas around the world is always a lot of fun.
As the school Fun Day has been called off, we will watch a Christmas Movie in there somewhere but I will notify you on Seesaw.
A big thank you to all of you who have engaged in your children’s learning this year…..for all the visits to seesaw and all the lovely emails along the way ….thank you.
TE MOANANUI-A-KIWA / HUB 3 / SENIOR BLOCK / YEAR 6-8
Room 8 – Mrs McKenzie
Welcome to week 9! This will bring us to the end of our time in Room 8 as Year 6 students. I want to thank all of you for your support in your child's learning throughout the year. I will miss each and every student, along with their smiles, jokes, ideas and shining moments. Don’t forget to visit Seesaw to see posts, photos and snippets of your child’s learning.
This week, we will complete a few already started activities including the continuation of learning traditional games, and completing our labyrinth maze games. We are looking to have a bit of fun outdoors (Possibly involving water) on Tuesday but I will message on Seesaw about this on Monday. A couple of weeks ago, students designed a lunch menu with a $50 budget. One design will be used to complete the shopping and we will enjoy some kai on Wednesday.
It would be great to farewell all students this week but I realise illness and covid sometimes gets in the way of that. If I do not get to see your child, I will be in touch. For now, let’s enjoy our last week and have fun!
If you have any questions, please remember I am always happy to chat with you via email, Seesaw or in person. firstname.lastname@example.org . Wishing you all a Merry and Happy Holiday break.

Work hard, play fair, laugh often and remember to never give up. We will miss you all immensely. Until then, let's make the most of this final week together!

Kia ora koutou - the last week of primary school for our class is finally here.
Yr 7/8 Dinner - The highlight for us will of course be the Yr 7/8 Leavers Dinner tonight. Parents and whanau - please make sure you are there at 6pm for photos with your child. Photos will be taken on the red carpet entry to the hall and there will be backdrops and photos frames for you to capture photos of your child with their friends. Please remind your child NO CELLPHONES. We welcome parents and whanau in the hall from 6pm - 6.30pm for photos and mix and mingle with other parents, and ask that you then return to the hall at 8pm to pick your child up. It will be a special night.
Seesaw - please make sure you download your child’s Seesaw. I will message you when all entries have been completed. Downloading your child’s Seesaw is important as it gives you a record of their learning experiences and as your child is leaving for College, their profile will be archived in the new year.
Thank you - it has been such a privilege to be the Rm 10 teacher this year. Such an awesome group of students to proudly call my class and aside from the awesome learning and achievements, there have been a lot of laughs and good times - lots of memories. Thank you for your support - this has always been much appreciated. I will miss these students but wish them all the very best for the next part of their learning journey. Wishing you all a happy and safe Christmas break.
