Upcoming Events & Programs
Emerge Leadership Circle Applications Now Open
Emerge Leadership Circle is a weekly workshop program held each semester to help students build their foundational leadership skills while developing a personal leadership philosophy.
By the conclusion of Emerge, participants should be able to:
- Define their personal leadership style
- Define leadership in their own terms
- Demonstrate effective public speaking
- Clarify their personal code of values
Want to nominate students for the Emerge program? Complete our online nomination form by September 13.
Students who wish to apply for a spot in the Emerge program can complete an online application. Applications are due September 23! Apply online by clicking this link!
*Students do not need to be nominated to apply for the Emerge program.
Emerge Leadership Circle is scheduled for Wednesdays from 4-6pm in the Student Center, North/South Room. Dates are as follows: October 9, 16, 23, 30 and November 6, 13, 20
Can't make it this semester? Applications for the spring program will be open in November.
OSILD Open House

The Office of Student Involvement is happy to provide an open house for the entire Worcester State community. Interested in learning more about what our office does? Stop by the 2nd floor of the Student Center to meet with staff members, plan your leadership experiences, learn more about student organizations, and get some free giveaways!
Student Support Network
The Counseling Center is proud to offer training for the Student Support Network, a program that increases student leaders' social and emotional intelligence helping skills. During this 6-week training, students will learn how to identify, reach out to, and help students in distress. Upon completion of the program, students are considered part of the Student Support Network (SSN) and receive a certificate and shirt. Advanced SSN training and volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.
Students interested in participating in the Student Support Network can email Julie Glovin at jgloven@worcester.edu. Fall training begins the week of October 14 and lasts for 1 hour during six consecutive weeks. All training workshops are mandatory.
SSN is a JED Foundation recognized suicide prevention program and exists on campuese throughout the country.

Public Speaking 101
Enactus's Zoe Bates presented a workshop on public speaking at this past February's Mass College of Liberal Arts 24th Annual Student Leadership Conference. She shared with us some of her tips for becoming a successful public speaker.
Practical Applications of Leadership
Student Mentor | Office of Multicultural Affairs
This position offers academic adjustment and support to program participants with the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The role may include academic assistance, facilitating small groups, assisting with group activities.
Peer Tutor | Academic Success Center
This position provides weekly group tutoring to students in specific, approved courses. The role includes communicating with professors, utilizing Starfish, and maintaining confidentiality regarding information about students.
