Health & Safety Updates

6th Grade Screening Testing

MCPS, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Health, is offering COVID-19 screening tests to students in PreK-Grade 6 at no cost. This individual screening test requires that families “opt-in” and consent for students to be tested. A random sample of students in these grades will be identified and tested on a weekly basis with parental consent. Fully vetted and authorized contractors, not MCPS staff, will administer the tests. The opt-in form below is necessary to allow your child to be a part of this testing process.

Please click here for more information

Information includes updated quarantine guidelines for unvaccinated students, Covid-19 Screening Testing, and Upcoming Vaccination Clinics

Message from PTSA

Big picture

The Parkland PTSA has exciting things planned for the year. Please join us for our first meeting of the year to learn about:

  • The latest MCPS updates and how we are all working to keep students and staff safe from Mr. Shin!
  • How, and when, standardized testing will occur at Parkland this year.
  • Learn how new statewide graduation requirements impact your students now and in the future from the MCCPTA Vice President of Education, Rodney Peele.
  • National PTA Reflections Art program! We are very excited that, for the first time at Parkland, your students can participate in this premiere arts exhibition to showcase their talents in our school, county, state, and even nationally!
  • How you can keep up with what is happening with special education, gifted education, ESOL education, and much, much more in our school and throughout MCPS.
  • Spirit wear!! Join the meeting to learn about how to get your Parkland swag!

Don’t miss the 2021-2022 PTSA Kick-off, register today!

When: Sep 14, 2021 07:00 PM Eastern Time

Register in advance for this meeting:

https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAlf--srzwtEtU3n-XkenGpwFm7f7047lQg

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. You do not need to be a PTSA member to attend this meeting.

We also want to hear from you, what you need, and your ideas. We are especially interested in student input. In fact, we invite one student from each grade level to join our board and help direct PTSA activities. There are also openings for adult participation in committees and as volunteers at specific events like Book Fair & Color Run! Tell us your passion!

Though we need and welcome volunteers, joining the PTSA requires no commitment; it is a voice of support for our students. Please join to help fulfill the PTSA mission: To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Laura Mitchell, Acting Parkland PTSA President
