Message to Parents from Superintendent
Dear Judson ISD Families,
We appreciate the ongoing hard work by our teachers, staff, and administrators to make further progress for our families who want to come back to school, all while maintaining an effective remote and in-person learning program for our students.
We will continue to do our part during the school day and rely on our families’ partnership to encourage safety at home, daily activities, and going out. Thank you all for doing your part to reduce the spread.
Parent Online Academy
Our Parent Online Academy is designed to provide short and informative online sessions to support parents. At the same time, their students are enrolled in the remote learning option, known as J-Learning at Home. Visit the Parent Online Academy webpage for more resources such as Chromebook Help, Parent Self-Serve Information, and an Introduction to CANVAS.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4676 Awards "Teacher of Year"
Last Wednesday, October 28th, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4676 located in Universal City paid a visit to the Wagner JROTC Program. Their Commander, Al Reams, came to present a $150 Check and a certificate to CW3 Michael Goode, as their winner for “Teacher of the Year.” Commander Reams said he was selected over numerous nominations and was very impressed by CW3 Goode’s military service and everything he does for his students and our community. His nomination will be forwarded to District 20 to compete against 18 other teachers. If he is selected as the district winner, he will move forward to compete against hundreds of teachers throughout the state of Texas. CW3 Goode thanked his other Instructors, his cadets, and said he shares the award with them because they are a TEAM. Congratulations CW3 Goode and good luck at District and State.

Wobble N Gobble VIRTUAL 5k
The Judson Education Foundation (JEF) & Judson ISD are hosting the 3rd Annual 5k Fun Run, the "Wobble N' Gobble." Proceeds benefit JEF to provide Student Scholarships and Innovative Teacher Grants in Judson ISD.
What is a Virtual 5K?
A virtual race is very similar to a live race. You register, run/walk (on the honor system), get a customizable finisher certificate, and race shirt to support a good cause. Still, they differ from live events because you get to complete your run from anywhere you like… the neighborhood, a local park, treadmill, track, downtown, or country roads. You get to decide!
Pricing
- JISD student $15
- JISD employee & parent $25
- Non-JISD student $20
- Community Members $30
Packet Pickup
We highly encourage all to register for in-person packet pick up – that information will follow. Still, if you can’t, or if you have family/friends that would like to support our endeavors from afar, a shipping option is available. Packets will include a T-shirt, customizable finisher certificate, and swag.
Register before November 16th to secure a T-shirt: https://jef.revtrak.net/annual-5k-fun-run#/list
Registration ends November 20th.
Thanksgiving Food Distribution
To safely serve our community, JEF will not host a sit-down feast this year but instead have partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank to host a Food Distribution. Volunteers will deliver pre-boxed farm-to-family fresh food items that will be made available to the first 800 families who pre-register.
District volunteers will distribute all food items. If you know of a family who is in need of assistance, please pre-register. Limited onsite registration will be available as well.
Families can register here: https://safb.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9XM4mHLBlKqZVyd.

Curbside Meal Service Changes
Judson ISD recently made changes to its curbside meal service to accommodate the growing number of students returning to our physical campuses. The District still has four locations where no cost curbside meals are available to students for pickup. As a result, October 23, 2020, was the last day for daily curbside distribution of meals at all our campuses. Currently, meals will be served at our campuses in either the school cafeteria or classrooms.
JISD will continue to serve curbside meals at the following locations from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday:
- Judson High School
- Wagner High School
- Spring Meadows Elementary
- Rolling Meadows Elementary
If this change produces a hardship for your family, please contact your campus and/or JISD Child Nutrition to inquire about alternative arrangements. This change aims to best utilize the resources available so the district can better address the shifting student needs developing at our schools. Our intent is that no student goes hungry, regardless if they are enrolled in virtual instruction or in-person.
JISD Mock Elections
This past week serval of our elementary schools participated in mock elections.
The goal of mock elections is to prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and engaged citizens. Mock elections provide students the opportunity to:
- Learn about the electoral process, issues, and candidates.
- Deepen their knowledge through reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Experience voting.
Our students got to register to vote and cast their cast in their ballot. Below is a video of students answering "why is it important to vote," as well as pictures of our mock elections across the district.
"As the country votes, so did our students! Teaching our civic duty."

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications: It Still Matters
The Judson ISD Child Nutrition Department wants you to know that even though all meals are no cost to students through the end of 2020, the Free/Reduced Price Meal applications are still critical…to you and your student because it’s about more than just food.
Did you know that this application also...
- Can provide discounted fees to register for AP tests (from $64 to $18)
- Help pay fees to participate in sports
- Can reduce costs of college applications (discounted or even no cost)
- Help you qualify for low-cost internet service
- Has a bearing on funding for school programs and services for students
The no-cost meal program will, at some point, end, and we want to make sure that your child gets a nutritious meal without financial roadblocks. See if you qualify. Or, you can get going by filling out the Free/Reduced Meal application now.
These applications are accepted all year, but the earlier you apply, the sooner you can benefit from meals and discounts.
*Note: If your child attends a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) designated school, you do not need to submit this application.
