Teacher Appreciation 2016

What makes you all great from the mouths' of your students..

When I remember the great teachers of my schooling, one constant runs through all of them. These teachers took the time to build a relationship with me that had a foundation of trust. The teachers knew what made me tick as a student and used this to motivate me to do things I didn't think I was capable of doing. It was little things that meant the most to me. I still hold onto the letters I wrote back and forth over the summer break with my 4th grade teacher. Little did I know, she was turning me into a writer without me even knowing it. My 8th grade teacher was the first teacher to use writer's workshop and confer with me. I remember the pure joy I felt when I conferred with my teacher. The constant that runs through my list of great teachers runs through this building. Greatness surrounds our students.

As you watch the video messages, you will hear what makes you great in the eyes of students. Often as Lily recorded the message, I stood with tears in my eyes and goosebumps on my arms. Our students are lucky to have you all as their teachers. One week could never be enough thanks for all you do.

With much respect,

Melissa

Dear Lions,

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for doing what you do every single day for every single child here at Lakeview. I thank you for loving and caring for the ones who are hard to love because they make your days challenging or sometimes even difficult. Thank you for having the patience, courage and humility to deal with parents when they are difficult or unreasonable. Thank you for emphasizing and valuing the importance of an education and a modeling a commitment to life-long learning to all of our students.

Most importantly, thank you for everything you have done and will continue to do to create a better world and a better future. There is NO other profession that so directly impacts and shapes the world around us. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and would like you to know that my appreciation and admiration for you and your work will never end!

Enjoy the videos!

With Lion Pride,

Doug

A Note About the Director

Special thanks goes to Lily Venn in Ms. Scherder's classroom. She assisted Mrs. Armbruster in collecting the video recordings for the movies. Lily showed great responsibility in this job. She did an excellent job capturing the magic!
