Pennies for Patients

Hawley School’s Student Council is sponsoring “Pennies for Patients” that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are collecting change through March 22, 2019. Your child can collect spare change to fill the box that he or she brought home.

Once your child has filled the container, it can be returned to school. The box can be filled and brought to school as many times as necessary over the course of the fundraiser. If you prefer online donations can be made by using this link: https://events.lls.org/pages/ctwhv/HawleyElementarySchool-2019.

The class who raises the most money will earn a class pizza party, and if the whole school reaches our fundraising goal, we will have extra recess for all!

To promote our fundraiser, we will be having Friday spirit days:

  • Friday, March 15: Wear Green for St. Patrick’s Day
  • Friday, March 22: Hawley Wear Day

Monster Mash: Auction Items!

The Monster Mash was a tremendous success. Not only was it a terrific, fun family event, but it raised over $10,000 for the PTA. Thank you for your support.

I will continue to share pictures of students participating in their Auction Activities. Here are students at the movies with the Grade 4 Team and making cupcakes with Mrs. Vitarelli and Mrs. Connors !

Reminders / FYI

  • Wednesday, 3/13 - Friday, 3/15: Early Release Days (1:37)

  • The Parent Portal opens WEDNESDAY and student Progress Reports are available, please open, print and review with your child

  • March Conferences: The Newtown School District has teacher requested Parent Conferences in March. They are designed only for those students that teachers feel a conference is necessary. They are not for all students to limit the amount of Early Dismissals that would be required. Not getting one, means everything is going well. If you have not been invited to a conference, remember, throughout the year, you can always ask to meet with your child's teacher to discuss work and performance. It just has to be outside this window due to limited available spaces.

  • International Dessert Night: Join us for this exciting PTA sponsored event. We will take a journey around the world for treats, entertainment and fun. Click here for more information.

  • On Friday, March 29, 9:30, in the Multi-Purpose Room is the next PTA Meeting. Please join us to be informed and participate in the Hawley PTA. They will discussing upcoming events, ways to participate and be more involved next year, and donation options to the school. With the new hybrid approach, the school also shares information. The last topic was Safety & Security. Please email me ideas that would be of interest (morettic@newtown.k12.ct.us).

Come en' Get It!

Our Lost & Found is overflowing with terrific clothes and water bottles and, and, and.........

Please see if you are missing something and either send your child down or take a look while you're visiting Hawley.

~ Thank You ~
