CDES Partnership with Wounded Warrior Project

This year our 5th grade students partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project as part of their Service Learning Project. They learned about the history of Veteran's Day and the values that are connected to those in the military. The students received bracelets that were inscribed with values such as honor, commitment, integrity and service. They also wrote letters of courage to honor those who have served in the military. Some students took them directly to family members while others will be mailed to the WW Project or taken to the Easton VFW. Thank you to the Wounded Warrior Project and Mrs. Szymanski for this great partnership.

CDES Pre-K Celebrates the 50th Day of School!

Pre-K students celebrated the 50th day of school today by dressing in 50’s attire, looking at artifacts from the 50’s with the Historical Society, practicing their hula-hooping skills, learning to hand jive, and sampling root beer floats! What a FUN day!

Student Illness/Covid Info

My Child is Sick! What should I do???

We will continue to keep you informed of Covid updates. Please see the TCPS link below that shows Covid cases and quarantined students by TCPS school below.

Basically if children show any signs of illness there are three options:

1) Stay home for 10 days, may return with no fever for 24 hours and resolution of symptoms

2) Get tested, return with proof of negative PCR test result and resolution of symptoms

3) See a doctor and get a differential diagnosis/note and have no fever for 24 hours and resolution of symptoms

My Child Has Been Deemed a Close Contact! Now What?

For future reference, if your child is deemed a close contact, you will receive a text message and email from the school, as well as a quarantine letter from the Talbot County Health Department that outlines the dates of your child's quarantine, information about Covid testing, and a return to school date. You may reach out to our school nurse, Christa Johns, with any questions you may have ( If your child has to quarantine, work will be provided and your child's teacher will check in/provide office hours as needed. In addition, your child's absences will be excused. We will continue to use enhanced cleaning procedures and follow TCPS protocols to ensure student and staff safety.

How We Recognize Students at CDES for Positive Behavior!

Students at CDES can be recognized with a Positive Office Referral by any staff member for showing their P.A.W.S. Students can receive a positive office referral by going above and beyond every day to show their P.A.W.S.!

*Pay attention

*Act responsibly

*Work to do their best

*Show respect

Students can also receive small P.A.W.S. daily when they follow school rules. Students then write their name on these P.A.W.S. coupons, which go into their classroom envelope for weekly drawings for the prize cart on Fridays.
