Dear Brookview Parents and Guardians,
Although we are in unprecedented times and school is starting remotely, we want you to know that we miss our students greatly and are hoping for some sense of normalcy and resolution through this Covid-19 pandemic. I sincerely appreciate the support from the community, and I look forward to that continued partnership as we strive for intentional greatness at Brookview Elementary.
We will begin the year on Monday, August 17th. The expectations for our students remain very high and we look forward to your support in ensuring our students reach their greatest potential. With this in mind, we are collectively working on providing high quality instruction in a new way and welcome your involvement and support. Now more than ever, we need you to partner with Brookview. The district plan for returning starts with all students participating in universal remote learning; which is full online instruction. The district will also begin bringing back specific students who can benefit from in-class instruction as well as can be safely socially distanced. I will work diligently to keep you informed of any new changes that may arise. Additionally, I want to encourage you constantly refer to the district website for updates regarding Covid-19 reopening to stay informed.
Lastly, there are some important changes for the 2020-2021 school year that you need to be aware of:
- Online Registration- All registration is online. Appointments can be made for assistance with the registration. Please contact our data clerk if needed.
- Device Deployment- All 3rd-12th grade FCS students will receive district issued devices for remote learning. For any technical assistance, please contact the remote learning technology hotline at (470) 254-2300 and “dial 8”.
- Instructional Focus- Students will continue with remote learning on the Microsoft Teams platform that we used at the close of the school year last year. Participation and work will be graded like a normal online course. It is imperative that they are logged on and completing work in order to earn passing grades. For grades K-2, we are utilizing Seesaw as our primary learning app for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade. This app will allow students to use a host of media tools. This app is accessible via the cell phone or laptop device. Your child has access to Seesaw through their FCS Class Link. Teachers will assist parents with connecting to their child’s Seesaw account.
- Communication- Our website is being updated daily so that current information is readily available to you. We will also be using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and Class Dojo to send out updates, messages, and pertinent information from the district. Please make sure your current contact information is in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
This year’s theme is “We are Great on Purpose: Change Starts With You!”. With this in mind, there will be countless activities planned for all of our students, families, and community stakeholders to collaborate and engage in virtually. I want to encourage you to stay informed and get connected to the great things happening at Brookview Elementary School! Please be on the lookout for our new Panda Posts e-newsletter that will be sent weekly. If you haven’t done so already, please follow Brookview’ s Instagram @brookviewelementary and Twitter @BESPandaWallace. Most importantly, check out and subscribe to our Brookview YouTube Channel (Search for our Panda Icon). We will be posting recorded instructional lessons on our You Tube channel for you to review with your child as needed. Again, I am thrilled to be Brookview Elementary’ s Principal and I am looking forward to embarking on an exciting new school year.

Jovita G. Wallace
