A Message from Mr. Langworthy
Happy April! As we approach Spring Break we want to remind families that all notes excusing absences should be in writing and directed towards Miss Phillips in the attendance office. This includes notes about early dismissals and appointments. Please do not send attendance notes through Remind.
With some warm weather days, the playground is getting lots of great use. Families are welcome to use the playground any time outside of school hours. The playground is only for use of elementary students during the school day. We ask that adults do not go to the playground during the school day. Having adults on the playground during the school day can create a dangerous situation.
COVID tests are available in the elementary office. If you would like a COVID test sent home with your child, please call the office. I wish everyone a relaxing Spring Break and we will see students back in school on April 19th!

Hello SWES Families!
We are just wrapping a full week of NYS ELA testing in our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes. Students have worked very hard this week and we are very proud of them! The NYS Math Exam for grades 3-5 will be administered after spring break, April 26th-27th.
Next Tuesday (April 5th) will be the final day for our after-school program for this school year. I would like to thank our teaching staff that have dedicated their time two days a week after school this year to help their students. Additionally, thank you to the parents who have allowed their child to stay and participate in this program; it is has been a very beneficial experience for all involved.
As always, please reach out to us here at the elementary school with any questions and/or concerns.
Mr. Kindberg

Learning about Percentiles:
Percentiles are the best data to show doctors, psychologists, and other professionals’ important information about a person’s growth.
Percentiles between 25th and 75th are average, while 50th percentile is the center average. If a student scored at the 50th percentile, they scored as well as or better than 50 percent of other students their same age or grade.
Lower than the 25th percentile is below average and higher than the 75th percentile is above average. This could show a doctor how a child is growing based on their weight, but it also shows the school information in regards to academic growth.
When looking at special education services, one would look at a students scored below 11th percentile (normally the rule of thumb), with zero or minimal growth in percentiles.
