Planning Update for RE-opening Chichester Central School From Superintendent Peter Warburton
Hope, Certainty and Communication
Hi everyone,
At the Chichester School Board meeting last night, Ms. Richardson and I presented the first part of our reopening plan for the coming year. A number of parents, community and staff members attended the meeting and provided feedback and asked some very good questions.
The Board will meet again next Wednesday, July 29, when we will present part 2 of our plan and respond to questions that were raised on July 21st.
The Board is expected to vote on the entire plan.
Please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts before hand, email pwarburton@sau53.org or call 485-5187.
***The meeting next Wednesday the 29th will be remote, with the link published on the CCS and SAU 53 website on Monday, July 27th.
Thank you,
Peter

A Message from Chichester Town Library ~ Imagine Your Story!
Summer Reading is back, starting Monday, July 13-August 24th. Sign up online, or call 798-5613 for assistance. We are also having a writing contest using the theme: Imagine your Story. Three categories: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. First prizes will be awarded and winning stories will be put into a book at the library. Next Wednesday at 2 on Facebook, Caroline will be doing a Summer Storytime reading the book, The Knight and the Dragon by Timor DePaula. Teens and Adults can join in on the fun, and pick up a Bingo card at the library for a raffle prize of a book tote filled with goodies and books. Lastly, we will have make and take art projects for you to take home. Our first project is: clothespin puppets. Stay tuned for more fun! Happy Reading!
Students in grades 5-8 can find their summer reading on Google Classroom, or email Mrs. Dockam for more info. Also, we would love to know what you are reading. Send us a picture and we'll highlight it in the next CCS newsletter. Have fun!

News from the Environmental Club
Raised Beds In October, raised beds were built and filled with loam. Fresh compost from cafeteria waste was used to fertilize the beds, garlic cloves were planted and four inches of straw was used to insulate the garden. | Scapes The garlic began to sprout in the spring and garlic scapes developed in early June which are an edible part of the plant that develops into a flower if not harvested. Removing the scapes helps to develop larger bulbs and can be used in many delicious recipes including a garlic scape and basil pesto sauce. | Bulbs Despite dry conditions and an inability to attend to the garden this spring, the garlic was harvested on schedule and should provide enough cloves for the upcoming growing season. |
