A Message from Acting Principal Anita O'Neill
January 14, 2024
I hope this message finds you well. A friendly reminder that there will be no school tomorrow, January 15, in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While many of our students will dedicate the day to service, we're also providing opportunities for service during lunch at school this week. Details can be found below.
I continue to highlight updates from our counseling department. Please pay attention to any deadlines mentioned in the information. Our counselors are actively assisting current students in registering for classes next year, and our admin team has initiated collaboration with feeder middle schools to kick-off registration for incoming 9th graders.
In our College and Career Center section, I've made an update. You can now find the latest information and opportunities on Ms. Nwator's website through the provided link.
A quick reminder about the PTSA meeting on Tuesday, January 16, at 7:00 pm in the Media Center. I look forward to meeting those who can attend.
As we approach the end of the semester with nine days left, let's make good use of this time! I encourage all students to finish strong—attend classes, stay engaged, and complete assignments with a focus on learning and skills.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
MLK Week of Service
January 15th-19th is MCPS's MLK Week of Service. CHS has many events planned, all that earn SSL hours. Each day at lunch there will be opportunities to earn SSL hours while serving our school or community in some way. Take a look at this document and decide where you would like to serve! See Mrs. Coe or any of the staff members hosting an event for more information.
Reminder: Principal Selection Process
Ms. Anita O'Neill is currently the Acting Principal at Clarksburg High School. This past week, MCPS begun the Principal selection process to result in a permanent principal appointment. As part of that process, Mr. Christophe Turk, Director, Office of School Support and Well-Being, held meetings on January 8 to explain the process and begin collecting stakeholder feedback to be used in the selection process. Please see Mr. Turk's letter and the slides he shared during the meetings.
