The Wishing Well

Once upon a time in a far away land, a little girl and her wise, old grandfather stood over a wishing well. But this was no ordinary wishing well, it was magic and could grant you one wish in exchange for a shiny, silver coin. "Ah my child listen close, for I have a lesson to share, for if one little wish goes wrong, it can ruin a person, so if you someday ask the well for a wish, be careful." The next day, the girl returned to the wishing well, clutching a shiny, silver coin. "I wish for everything I've ever wanted." Satisfied, the girl returned home.

The next day when the little girl woke, she woke in a glorious mansion with candy and feasts galore. The girl immediately treated herself to a day in this lavish life. But after months passed, she was unhappy. She was unhappy because she had everything she wanted and had to work for nothing. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

The moral in "The Wishing Well" is to be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. another possible theme is to respect your elders and listen to them.
