North Junior High School
August 12, 2020
Dear Families and Scholars,
My name is Julius Eromosele, and I have the great pleasure of joining your Hopkins family as the new principal at North Junior High School. I am ecstatic to be joining this esteemed community of scholars and caring adults. The more I learn, the more I admire the gem that North Junior High is and can only imagine how much it means to you and your family. As I assume this role, I understand that we mutually enter a partnership requiring trust and respect in all future interactions - both of which are foundational in any relationship. I will diligently work with our body of educators to listen to, and meet the needs of our scholars and their families.
Scholars:
I will honor your voice and prioritize your needs in all decision making. Your current and future success will be at the forefront of all we do. Your humanity will be affirmed, and your unique cultures will be celebrated. I ask that you come ready to stretch yourself academically while preparing to grow socially, emotionally, and physically. I ask that you challenge me and guide me in how I can best serve you. I am so excited to meet each of you and I know you will do unbelievable things!
Parents and Guardians:
I want to begin by acknowledging the fact that each child is someone's whole world. With that understanding, I will work with our staff in tireless advocacy of your scholars and their dreams. We will prepare them to identify and utilize their gifts and unique talents. We will show them that they are valued regardless of religion, language, culture, sexual orientation, or race. I will ask that you share your voice with me in partnership at various points during this journey, and I will communicate as much as possible so that you are always in the loop as it relates to your scholar's experience here at North Junior High. I ask for your grace in moments of frustration during this educational endeavor. I look forward to meeting each of you and building a lasting relationship and partnership.
Please see below for additional information regarding the start of the upcoming academic year.
iPad Distribution Day:
All students at North Junior High School are issued a school-owned iPad for use during the school year. Students will be able to pick up their school assigned iPad by driving through or coming up with an adult on:
When
Thursday, August 20th from 4 P.M - 7 P.M
Friday, August 21st from 7:30 A.M - 4 P.M
Where
North Junior High drive-thru student drop off lane
(By door “A” in small parking loop in the front of the building facing Cedar Lake Rd)
By picking up an iPad, students agree to exhibit responsible digital citizenship throughout the academic year and for as long as they hold the device. If you are new to Hopkins or were not issued an iPad last year, you will have a few more steps to complete in order to set up the device and accounts. You will receive guidance through the process.
Back to School Information:
I am sure many of you have questions regarding how we will be proceeding with the school year amid the pandemic/health crisis. Please click on Roadmap to Reopening for information on how North Junior High and other schools in our district will be proceeding. North Junior High is currently slated to start the first two weeks of the academic year in distance learning.
I thank you for your engagement, and I will follow up with any updated communication that will be critical to the launch of the academic year.
In Partnership,
Julius Eromosele

Immunization Information For Incoming
7th Grade Students
Immunizations: According to MN School Immunization law all students are required to have their immunizations up to date prior to start school, even with a distance learning scenario. All in-coming 7th grade students are required to submit documentation of a recent Tdap vaccine, two Varicella vaccines, (Or history of having chickenpox), and one Meningitis vaccine, along with their shot record. For more information, see Are Your Kids Ready For School?
If your student has not already received their required immunizations, we recommend you contact your healthcare provider immediately. Parents may file a medical exemption signed by a healthcare provider or a non-medical exemption signed by a parent/guardian and have it legally notarized. If needed, please contact Ann Salzer-School Nurse who can complete a referral for your student to receive no cost immunizations. All health forms and immunization records need to be received by Monday August 24th, 2020. Nurse Ann can be contacted at 952-988-4804, or by email at: ann.salzer@hopkinsschools.org with any questions.
Please note: Your child will NOT be given their class schedule in grades 7-9 until North Junior High has an up-to-date written immunization record on file.
Medication Administration at School: New this year due to Covid-19 Health and Safety planning we are asking if it is all possible for students to take daily medications at home. If medication (both prescription and over the counter) must be given during school hours, parents need to provide both written permission from their healthcare provider and from the parent/guardian. Per district policy, all medication must be kept in the nurse's office.
Please contact Nurse Ann with any questions or special circumstances at 952-988-4804. The Consent for Medication Administration Form can be found in the resource section of this page.
