Summer Experience

You can sign up for the district's Summer Experience by June 11.

The 2023 Summer Experience kicks off on June 20, and it’s FREE to all PreK through 12 Columbus City Schools students. We’re excited to provide CCS students and families with a summer of exciting school and community-based learning experiences.

This year’s Summer Experience includes similar project-based learning students and families have been able to enjoy through our Pathway Express focuses: Entrepreneurship, Family & Consumer Sciences, Fine Arts, STEM, and World Languages & Cultures.

Summer Food Programs in the Hilltop

City of Columbus Summer Meal Programs

Our Summer Food Program offers free, nutritionally balanced meals at our community centers and other various locations during the summer months.


Families in need can call 866-3-HUNGRY (Español: 877-8-HAMBRE) or text 914-342-7744 with a question that contains a keyword such as “food,” “summer,” “meals,” etc. and receive a text back that will show free meal sites closest to them.

Free Summer Mobile Produce Markets

Columbus Recreation and Parks Department offers Free Mobile Produce Markets which provide a one-week supply of fresh produce to eligible families. ACE Scholarship

All Columbus City School Students are eligible for the $1,000 ACE scholarship

The funds can be used for the following services:

• Before- or after-school educational programs

• Day camps/summer camps--including camps for academics, music, and arts (overnight camps excluded)

• Field trips to historical landmarks, museums, zoos, science centers, and theaters--including admission, exhibit, and program fees

• The purchase of curriculum and material for homeschool families

• Educational, learning, or study skills services

• Tuition for learning extension centers

• Art lessons including dance, music, visual arts and even martial arts

• Language classes

• Tutoring

Pizza Hut Camp BOOK IT! is open to all families with PreK-6th grade students (ages 4-12). Parents set goals, track reading and reward their students with FREE PIZZA!

Dorrian Days

Join us for Dorrian Days, a free and exciting event series at the Scioto Mile this summer! In partnership with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Dorrian Days offers kid-friendly activities every Tuesday from June 13 to August 15. Enjoy inflatables, performances, food trucks, science experiments, and more at Dorrian Green, 50 S. Belle Street from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It's a summer experience the whole family will love!
