Langauge
Dialect
dialect is regional variety of a language characterized by its vocab, its spelling, and how things are pronunciated.
Extinct Languages
A language that has died out and has no current speakers.
Official Language
The language that has been used as the primary language by the government, buisness people, and documentation.
Pidgin Language
A type of language that has taken on simpler grammar and a smaller vocabulary. This type of lagnuage is normally used help poeple of two other languages speak. The pidgin language is being used as a lingua franca as well in other countries that dont speak english.
Literary Tradition
A language that is written and spoken amongst groups of people.
Isogloss
A boundry that divides regions where poeple use certain languages the most.
Isolated Language
A language that isnt related to any other language in existence and is not attatched to a language family.
Lingua Franca
A language spoken and understood by poeple in other countries most commonly used in trade.
Language branch
A large collection of languages related through the same ancestrel group that existed thousands of years ago before recorded history. the branches are shorter and not as old as language families.
Language Family
A collection of languages related to each other by ancestors thousands of years ago.
Language Group
A collection of languages within one lanugauge branch that share a common origin in the not so distant past.
