Happenings in May
Such a bittersweet time of year - I am not ready for the year to end
I cannot believe it is mid-May and the students will be ready to move on to middle school. I know so many people have a countdown going, but that is not me. It is so hard for me to say good-bye and know they will not be walking the halls of Kiker next year. It has been a rough few months, personally, for me and I am forever grateful for your kindness and support. This school year has been fabulous and I know what wonderful young people I have had the pleasure of learning with this year. Thank you!!
Happenings in the classroom
The students are working on The Math Curse book in class and should have it ready to turn in by Friday.
We are now "finished" with the fifth grade curriculum and the students are learning what they want to learn - in math we have been solving for X and learning algebra. In language arts they are reading a free choice book that centers around a child in conflict. We have been so science heavy that we will end the year with fun experiments. BTW, does anyone know where I can get some Mylar? Social Studies has us finishing up US History to present day.
Dates to Remember for the next few weeks
May 17-20: Kiker spring book fair in the library
May 20: Symphony trip with the music department. We will be back in time for lunch so there will be no impact on lunches.
May 23: All books are due to the Kiker Library
May 25th: Fifth grade Gifts of Time kickball game
May 26: Visit GMS
May 27 and May 30: No School
May 31: Pool Party at Circle C School
June 2: Fifth Grade Graduation and Walk the Kiker Halls
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I cannot wait to use my massage gift certificate over the next few months. It is such a relaxing and decadent treat!
This year has been and is so awesome. Our classroom family is such a happy and supportive place to be. The students are always there for each other and they have all made this an exceptional year.
