Highlights from this week:
Shared Reading - Our class continued to practice retelling usingThe Giant Pumpkin as their focus text. Your child completed a retelling assessment on Friday. Students will receive their scores on Monday.
Writing - Our class worked on multiple writing activities by editing for words they did not know, describing their favorite things about autumn, and composing a short letter to voice their opinion about the class celebration.
Science - Our class started a short unit on the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin. Students observed a pie pumpkin and discussed pumpkin traits using four of their five senses. Students also learned the physical differences between edible and decorative pumpkins.
Math: Our class began the Second Math Unit of the year with a focus on dominoes. The focus this week included an emphasis on quickly counting both sides of a domino to determine how many total dots they saw. Students worked with the vocabulary and reasoning related to "greater than", "less than", and "equal to" with both the dominoes and the number line.
