Happy Thanksgiving ~

We have so much to be thankful for this year ~ and my prayer is that we are able to take some time during this break from school to show how thankful we are to be together and to thank our Father for loving us enough to share those blessings with us. It is truly the best blessing.

God bless you all ~ have a safe and restful time with your family!

Transportation changes ~ not just for Rochester City!

Catholic schools were recently made aware of a proposal in front of the RCSD Board of Education. A Task Force assembled in September and is recommending that RCSD no longer provide transportation for RCSD students attending schools outside of the Rochester City limits. Our RCSD parents received notification TO ACTION two weeks ago ~ Non-public and Charter School effected were asked to flood the Board of Education with requests to speak (which was a difficult task given the COVID limits) or to educate them with pleas to continue transportation citing the benefits of attending their school of choice and the hardship if transportation were removed.

The first Board Meeting was November 18th and we have another opportunity to TAKE ACTION for the December 23rd Board Meeting. These RCSD Board meetings are only for Rochester City residents but families in our suburban schools should be paying attention to this issue. Our suburban schools are watching this unfold very closely to see if is a course of action for them in the future. What we do know is these developments will make next years Transportation Registering deadline of APRIL 1st very important.

We will keep you updated and please contact me if you have any questions or you would like to TAKE ACTION ~ I have next steps on how to contact RCSD Board of Education and will include them in upcoming newsletters.

St. Nicholas Day - December 6th

Every year for St. Nicholas Day our school requests donations from our families as a way of giving to those in need. In this season of the birth of Jesus, we will remember the mothers and children of Bethany House. The flyer below contains their needed items ~ please have your child bring them to school on or before St. Nicholas Day, as we put them in the hallway for St. Nicholas to take when he leaves treats in the students shoe.

SKS is going to Chipotle!

Save the date for a SKS dinner at Chipotle put on by our Parent's Association.

News from the Nurse

Hello Parents/Guardians,

Just a quick note to let you know that hearing, vision and Scoliosis screenings has begun. All students in Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th grades, along with all students new to Saint Kateri this year will be screened. If you have any concerns regarding vision or hearing at any grade level, I am more than willing to screen your child at any time.

If there is concern regarding the students hearing and vision screening results, a letter will be sent home with your child that will require follow up with an eye care professional or your child’s health care provider. You will also receive a phone call from myself regarding these results.

Lastly, I am still missing physical exam documentation from several students. I sent a letter home with these students this week. Please check your child’s backpack and return these forms to me as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
