Middle School Update

May 13, 2023

Word of the week: Esprit de Corps

Esprit de Corps - devotion among members of group for each other and the group’s purpose

Dear Middle School Parents,

Dear parents,

I cannot believe we are already at the last week of school! It has been quite a year! Thank you all so much for the precious teacher appreciation gifts for me and for the staff. Those gifts warm our hearts. During the summer please don't hesitate to contact me via email - I'll still be around! I will also be sending out a monthly update for June, July, and August to keep you abreast of all important information.

Returning Chromebooks and chargers: This week advisory teachers will be collecting Chromebooks and chargers. If there is an issue with the Chromebook that needs to be addressed, you will be getting an email from Mr. Andy Boatman with a Square link attached to pay for damages. If you purchased insurance he will cross-check with that list. Chargers are $35 if you have lost yours.

Enrollment for next year is open on Teacherease. The registration takes place on Teacherease, but directions can be found on our website: https://www.oakdale.org/46272. In the registration process, you will be directed to fill out a specials choice form with a link to a slideshow regarding the specials choices.

Middle School STEAM camps offered by our own Oakdale faculty! The link below is for the middle school STEAM camps offered by Mrs. Pitts and Mr. Burns, June 19-22. Camp names, information, and descriptions are embedded into the form. This is an excellent hands-on summer learning opportunity for our middle school students!

Cleats for Kids drive sponsored by former student, Kirk Goodwin: Cleats for Kids is a nonprofit in Oklahoma City that equips and empowers kids through sports by providing safe sports shoes and equipment, free of charge. A main part of the mission is, 'kids helping kids." One way we do this is through students having a collection drive. We are thrilled to have a collection drive at Oakdale! We accept any gently used and new sports shoes and equipment (any sport, any type, any size!). We are still collecting, so bring your gently used sports gear to school on Monday!

Semester Tests:

Semester tests are ongoing. See the schedule HERE. They are calculated into the semester average using the following formula:

Quarter 3, Quarter 4, semester test = semester average

  • 6th grade - semester test is 10% of the semester average
  • 7th grade - semester test is 15% of the semester average
  • 8th grade - semester test is 15% of the semester average EXCEPT for Spanish 1 & Algebra which are 20% because they are for high school credit.

As always, please email me with any questions or concerns.
