FFA Flashes
The Hilliard FFA Livestock Show team received a grant from Nassau Education Foundation to start a livestock show program. The grant helped purchase five-show animals that have made appearances at The Battle In the Pines cow show, Baker County Fair and NEFL Fair. Three of the five animals were auctioned at the NEFL Market Sale, bringing in over $7500 to the FFA program, giving them the ability to reinvest in future market animals and eventually build their breeding stock in beef show cows. Among many other awards, the market animals and team won 2 showmanship ribbons, a herdsman award, a first-in-class steer, and a 3rd overall steer. The hundreds of hours invested in these animals paid off big for the Hilliard FFA, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them!

Marathon High Running Club
Season 11 of Yulee High Schoolβs Marathon High running club had a great start with the βRun the Runway 5Kβ at the Fernandina Beach Airport. The students began training three weeks ago to participate in the Donna Foundation half marathon (13.1 miles) in February 2022. Our volunteer coaches are teachers and staff members at Yulee High School. Many of our students have never even run one mile before our training regimen in October! Marathon High is a rigorous program of endurance, commitment, and teamwork.
