CCCHS Redesign News
Empowering all students to thrive now and in the future.
Visits to redesign schools
Recently, Mrs. Crutcher, Mrs. Murphy, and Mrs. Rose visited Liberal, and Ms. Pollman and Mr. Nelson visited McPherson to learn about their redesign experiences. Visits to Wellington and Newton were postponed due to weather and are being rescheduled. From Liberal’s principal:
Preliminary findings on Tiger Hour Prototype
Recently, students and staff completed surveys about Tiger Hour. Surveys show that students feel they are using Tiger Hour well, but roughly 60% of teachers have concerns that many students who have Ds/Fs are not using the time for contact with teachers. We will be pivoting to address these concerns!

Tiger Scavenger Hunt
Earlier in January, CCCHS students participated in a scavenger hunt. Students were grouped based on math levels for the first part, and then had to work in advisory groups to complete the hunt. Officials were Karrin Larson, Wyatt Kipfer, and Matthew Davidson, who created the scavenger hunt with Mrs. Ware inspired by the Mathnificent Race at Washburn math day.
Future prototypes
Our counseling department is working on our future prototype of flex mod scheduling (see below for photo). Mr. Conner and Mrs. Affolter will be prototyping project-based learning, both heavily focused on community interaction and expertise! Look for more information in upcoming newsletters.
Redesign team update
On Monday, the CCCHS redesign team attended more training in Salina. We worked through adding our prototypes to the Redesign Workbook, which an external evaluation team will examine in May when we present the CCCHS redesign plan for approval. We also planned a faculty meeting for Feb. 5.
