On November 15, all grade levels will be able to peruse the market where our Mott Owls will be able to purchase the student-created products. Most items will cost under $1. All proceeds will be donated to the charity chosen by the Third Grade Owls.

Holiday Donations at Mott

We are fortunate to live in a very caring, loving community, and we have 3 ways to give back to our friends in need. During this season of giving, we invite you to join the Mott Staff with donations of non-perishable food items, new toys, and new or used coats! If you'd like to donate please bring an item before 12/6.

“DECK THE HALLS”

(Non-perishable Food Items)

We will collect non-perishable food items, such as canned and boxed food, to be shared with Blue Santa of Pflugerville. You may send your items anytime before Dec. 6. We will “Deck the Halls” (line the hallways with donated food items) of Mott with your generous donations. Our goal is to make it down the main hallway and back with donated food items!

“TOYS FOR TOTS”

(New Toys)

We will also be collecting new toys until Dec. 13, for Blue Santa, in the bins located in the front school office. All toys will go to help our neighbors in need!

“COATS FOR KIDS”

(New or Gently-Used Coats)

Please send a new or used coat to Mott to be shared with a child who is in need! All coats will be donated to the Good Will/Jack Brown/Junior League Coats for Kids Campaign.

Thank you for your caring and generosity!

WHS football play-off game

Let's fill the stands with a fantastic cheering section of our Mott Owls at Weiss High School's first play-off game. PfISD will host the game at the Pfield on Friday, Nov. 15. Details about the game will be released on the district's webpage www.pfisd.net as they become finalized for the play-offs.

Math Pentathlon Mondays for Families

On Nov. 18 we will start Math Pentathlon Mondays for Families from 5-6:30pm in the Mott library. This is a come and go event (you can come late or leave early to accommodate your needs). Parents and students can come to our library to learn Math Pentathlon Games, hosted by Sarah Boyle. A parent MUST accompany the student.

For students who wish to compete at the Austin Area regional Math Pentathlon Tournament, info can be found here: https://www.mathpentath.org/austin-area/.

Students do not need to compete at tournament to attend Family Math Pentathlon night.

Birthdays and other deliveries

Birthdays are a great special occasion. We want to honor your wishes to provide a treat for your child's class. However, please be aware that children in the school may have severe allergies to certain food products. Therefore, it is imperative to discuss this with your child’s teacher prior to bringing any food in this circumstance. We also must limit birthday treats to one food item. Please do not send drinks or goodies bags.

Except in emergencies, delivery of messages or packages to students will not be allowed during instructional time. A parent may leave a message or a package, such as a forgotten lunch, for the student at the front office.

Absence Notes

When a child is sick and must be home, we ask that you send a doctor note or parent note to school within 3 days after your child returns. An email from you to the teacher and our registrar is acceptable for a parent note. Please include the child's first and last name, date of absence, and reason in the note. Our registrar is Steve Ray. His email is steven.ray@pfisd.net

School Starts at 7:20am

Every morning at 7:20am our first bell rings to signify the start of the school day. At that time our teachers and students are already engaged and focused on learning. At 7:35am when the tardy bell rings if your child is not through the third set of double doors they will be marked tardy and missing out on valuable learning time. At times when we have special circumstances like picture day, pumpkin contest day, or drastic changes in the weather, tardies may be waved. Please note that this happens only for special circumstances. Every other day the 7:35am tardy bell is enforced, please plan your mornings accordingly. Pro tip: 7:05- 7:15am sees little to no traffic, making it that sweet spot for the start of a great day!

Tips for Picking Up Your Child Early for an Appointment

We truly appreciate your efforts in scheduling appointments after school hours. However, we understand that is not always possible. So, if you need to pick your child up early for an appointment, and your child will not return that day, it could take 10 to 15 minutes for your child to get to the office. Here is the reason why:

  1. Often, our teachers do not know ahead of time that your child will be leaving early. They have to gather homework, folders, etc. to put in the backpack. Your child has to pack these items, their water bottle, the book they are reading, etc. before they start walking to the office.
  2. Our school is 19,000 square feet. It takes a long time to walk from some parts of the building up to the office. Especially if your child is young and has short legs!
  3. If your child is in special areas, lunch, computer lab, recess, etc., they will have to go back to the classroom to get their backpack. There is no guarantee that the teacher will be in the room at that time due to meetings, copying, etc. Our classroom doors are always locked, for safety reasons. So, the office will have to put a call out on the radio to find someone with a key that can walk to the classroom to open the door, so that your child can get their backpack. This will take several minutes. You can avoid this added delay by knowing your child's schedule, and arrive before or after lunch, specials and recess. Schedule by Teacher
  4. Sometimes, teachers take their class for a whole group bathroom break. These breaks are not scheduled, and are based on class need due to that day's schedule. In this case, when the office calls the room and the teacher does not answer, we just have to wait a few minutes until the class returns to the room.

In other words, please allow plenty of time to pick up your child in order to make it to your appointment on time.
