At home learning and experiences
We are most certainly in uncharted territory. We wanted to compile a list of hands on learning activities, virtual field trip ideas, as well digital experiences and educational websites. We hope that this helps to keep those little ones busy, engaged and even make some memories along the way!
Hands on ideas:
- Play Dough is a favorite. Cut it, roll it, make snakes. Roll it out with their hands. Great muscle builder for their little hands.
- Buttons or marbles are great for color matching and sorting games.
- Stringing bigger beads, buttons, cereal or pasta noodles. We use pipe cleaner in our classroom, but you could use string with the end wrapped to make it easier for them to string.
- Make tents and reading caves. Put in pillows, books, snacks and flashlights.
- Crafting with anything you have. Most love to paint. Some even love to finger paint. Glue and glitter are very popular right now too!
- Legos
- Card and board games
- Color streetscapes on paper and use those for their cars.
- Shaving cream! Put it on the table with some of their cars. They can drive through the cream or just play with it. Cleans up well and it smells pretty good too.
- Paint with shaving cream. Mix paint into shaving cream and use it in place of paint. Makes puffy design.
- Dot art (bingo dobbers). You can find printables online to use with dot art markers.
- Stacking cups.
- Puzzles
- Read their favorite books and rotate them in a bin.
- Water play.
- Coloring.
- Glue paper pieces and other smaller objects to paper to make art projects.
- Cornstarch and water - just do it, its incredible!
