McKinley Elementary School
Weekly News--June 6 - 9
Happy first day of Summer Break! The 2021-2022 school year is over and this past week was filled with many end of the year field trips and activities.
Our kindergarten graduation ceremonies on Wednesday were so exciting. We are grateful that we were able to have an in-person ceremony with our family and friends.
After the ceremony, I realized that our current second graders weren't able to have a ceremony like this because in March 2020, when they were in kindergarten, school went to distance learning due to COVID. Our staff rallied quickly on Thursday to coordinate a 2nd grade parade near the end of the day. The 2nd graders received cheers, applause, high-5's, and some hugs as we send them on their way to 3rd grade at Meadow View.
We want to thank Mrs. Terry for her dedication to McKinley students. Not only has she had an impact on our students, but she made a difference each day with our staff. With 45 years of experience as a teacher, she has been a mentor to our teachers and paraeducators. We will miss her tremendously, but we are happy for her in this newest chapter of her story.
Thank you for a wonderful first year at McKinley. It has been a pleasure to work with our students and families. I look forward to next year and the exciting things we are already planning.
Have a fantastic summer!
