REACTION TYPES
By: Madeline Cripe
Synthesis
Definition: chemical synthesis is a purposeful execution of chemical reactions to obtain a product, or several products.
A+B --> AB
Decomposition
Definition: separation of a substance into two or more substances that may differ from each other and from the original substance
AB ---> A+B
Single Replacement
Definition: Single displacement reactions are reactions where one reactant replaces part of the other.
A+BC---->AC+B
Double Replacment
Definition: Double displacement reactions are reactions where part of one reactant is replaced by part of another reactant.
AB + CD → AD + CB
AB + CD → AD + CB
Combustion
Definition: Combustion is a chemical reaction chemical that occurs between a fuel and an oxidizing agent that produces energy, usually in the form of heat and light.
CH(O) +O2----> CO2+H2O
Redox
Definition: Any chemical reaction which involves oxidation and reduction.
