Week #5 Goodbye to August and Hello September!
Week #5 Goodbye to August and Hello September!
Hi Everyone,
This week marks the end of August and the beginning of September! One thing is for sure, it's going to be hot! If you get a chance, check out our WeatherStem link on the FB page and website page...we have had some beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Thank you for remembering to call the nurse to your room if someone seems to be symptomatic. She will bring her kit and check out the situation as soon as possible. This keeps us from having to close down the only office we have right now. She has a room where she takes students who need quarantine so that we minimize the school impact.
Fevers that read 99 or higher will need to be verified by the nurse with the internal ear thermometer.
We have a few students who were out last week with fevers and we are waiting on results for them. If they have a doctor's note, they are permitted to return if they are fever free.
Here are a few very important reminders:
- If you are LATE please let your Team Leader know and Mrs. Torres. Thank you.
- Team Leaders will meet Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 in Room 12.
- Completed Room Sign-Ins should be turned in on my desk in the office behind Lisa
- Remember, no one comes in your room without signing in and out.
- Don't forget to sign in when you enter the office. All staff on the temperature sign in and teachers on the teacher sign in sheet.
- DUTIES: Please be ON TIME and please be alert, present and diligent in helping and noticing what is going on around you. This is not the time to chat, we have some slippery kiddos this year.
- TIMELINESS to Lunch and Specials: We are on a very tight schedule and if you need to set an alarm for 5 minutes early to make sure you are on time, please do. Lunches are depending on the promptness of each class.
- Code of Conduct Booklets should go home to your students.
- Handouts- Please collect all the required documents (See Parent Panther Pride Newsletter). Keep a list with your class names and check off the forms they bring you back. Do not turn in those forms until all of them have been collected. If you have two or three students or even one that isn't turning them in, contact the parent on DOJO and then make a phone call to remind them that they must be turned in. Have copies ready to resend home. We will have some made and on the front bench by Tuesday if forms have been misplaced. Please complete all for your class before turning them in.
- Masks! Be sure that everyone has the mask on at all times if they are not socially distancing. Take it off only for the break we talked about and only if all students and staff are in their area- 6 feet apart. ALL other times (walking around in class or hall for any reason) the mask must be on and the nose covered. Tie a knot to tighten the mask if necessary. PE at 6 feet apart can also have mask off.
- If you see masks with valves, they are not allowed.
- In the event someone has COVID or is suspected...you will be notified if this impacts you or your class. These areas where someone was are to be sanitized and contacts are being made. It takes time so be assured we are taking precise, surgical precautions and we are informing those impacted. Overall announcements may be made to you but this would occur after all those impacted have been contacted, usually the next morning.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL INFORMATION AND REMINDERS FROM MRS. TORRES
- Student compact (Student Agreement) must be sent home this week to be signed and returned. Our recommendation is to pull one from the planner, sign it, and make copies to send out. This will be less work for you as you will not have to sign each one individually. Please collect them from your students and hold. These forms will be returned to me (Mrs. Torres) as a class set. This will be due no later than August 31. (Title I Requirement)
A few more important reminders
- We are asking that you leave campus by 6 pm in the evenings due to safety and to allow ample time for rooms to be sanitized and fogged without staff being present.
- Custodial staff has many extra duties in sanitizing, refilling cleaner bottles, fogging, moving furniture in and out of the cafeteria, etc. More than ever we will need you to keep a tidy room. Part of your teaching expectations to students is how to keep their areas clean and picked up. Desks must be cleared so that they can be cleaned nightly. You will be responsible for your desk. At the end of the day have students earn dojo points for picking up and cleaning the room. This will assist tremendously in our custodial efforts.
