I. Introduction from Lynne and Dr. Cutler
a. Field Trips
i. UW Madison virtual field trip
ii. Trampoline park
b. Lynne is working on getting Scrip up and organized
i. Under this program, the schools will be able to passively earn money. Families buy scrip for various places (Pick N Save, Dicks Sporting Goods, Target, etc.) and a portion of the purchase is donated to the school. You don’t spend extra money on the gift cards, so it’s a win-win for the school.
c. The 2024/2025 calendar is complete
d. Lynne has reached out to Mt. Olympus to get a homeschool discount
II. Discussion about having access to EPIC year round
a. Is this something that families would want and/or use?
III. Facebook updates
a. Much more positivity on the Facebook page
b. Families asking questions about testing, computer glitches, supporting each other after spring break
c. Should we use Facebook for more polls and direct questions that might help administrators get more information from families
d. How can we promote that page for families to come for support?
IV. Staff Appreciation
a. Staff Appreciation is May 6-May 10.
b. We are extending “teacher appreciation” to include all staff members
c. The staff includes 240 people
d. Could we have a Padlet where kids, parents, and learning coaches can post messages and drawings?
e. Encourage families to write to their teachers and administrators that they interface with to show appreciation
f. Family council will draft an email that can go out to families with ideas on what they can do to show appreciation.
V. Family Council Concerns and Topics
a. Concern about how to get disengaged students to do their work
b. Did we ever get a spreadsheet with admin. contact information?
c. Family Council members will attend the staff meeting on 4/10/24 to let staff know that there is a council and they are working on parent/family cohesiveness
d. We are moving in the right direction!
VI. Reminders:
a. The school store is open to buy spirit wear:
SquadLocker
b. Dr. Cutler is encouraging families to re-enroll so that the school knows class size and student head count as early as possible.
c. Lynne Heinzelman is always available for family and learning coach support lheinzelman@wivcs.org
VII. Additional Notes

ii. One teacher who is well versed in reiki and meditation led a guided imagery
1. Suggested that teachers use it before class to get focused for their day and also in the classroom to teach relaxation and self regulation
b. Jennifer and Amy also attended the “Coffee with Britta”
i. This should also be advertised to parents as a time to ask questions, address concerns, and share successes in a small setting (Jennifer and Amy were the only parents there!)
ii. Class Kick vs. NewRow
iii. Discussion on Instructional Design
1. What are parents asking for?
2. How can the school balance structure and flexibility?
3. Principal Hanson has been collaborating with WiVA in Virginia
iv. What are possible barriers to student learning success?
v. Amy will ask in the Facebook forum what parents like about WiVA, why they chose it, and what keeps them there
1. This will possibly be the start of direct questions in that forum to provide feedback
2. Questions are already in the forum and at least five parents have answered
If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Thank you, Lynne Heinzelman
