Letter from the President
Dear Colleagues,
Spring has sprung, for some of us anyway. With spring comes testing season. For most of us LAS Links will be the first of many state assessments that will fill the last months of this school year. Remember for those of us who have EL students, the ELPT is a 100% tested assessment. Sharon Prestridge at MDE is a great source of information for all things LAS Links.
I know each of you is busy assisting principals with schoolwide plans for the 2018-2019 school year. I would like to thank Ms. Brendsha Roby for the great job she did training our principals around the state with understanding not only the mechanics of completing their schoolwide plans in MCAPS, but also the importance of how the plans support the allowability of their spending.
Your MAFEPD board is hard at work planning this summer’s conference. We encourage districts to submit proposals to share the great things you are doing in your districts. The “Call for Proposals” form can be found on the MAFEPD website. The deadline to submit is March 29, 2019. If you have not registered for the conference please do so, and we encourage you to bring Title I principals. Several sessions are being planned to help principals navigate through the requirements of Federal Programs.
Please have a safe and happy Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Frank Catchings, Ph.D.
