Glacier Ridge Elementary School 02.04.22
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
This week we celebrated 100 days of school and our youngest students really enjoy pretending to be old. Check out a few pictures below of the celebration.
We also celebrated Groundhog day and we all were happy to hear that Woodstock Willie did not see his shadow. We sure hope that Spring comes early as predicted.
Our fifth graders are gearing up for the Polar Bear Players production of Lion King this year. We are so excited to partner with the Raue Center Theater and have our students perform on the "big stage." All students and staff will be watching this production with a big field trip to the theater on March 4th. Please see the information in this newsletter about this event and how you can advertise your business, celebrate your performer, family, or anything else you would like to see in the show program. Also, we will have information about ticket sales for one of the other performances in the near future.
A special shout out to our GRS PTA for all the great things that they continue to do for our students. Please join us for our next meeting at 6:30 on March 7th.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Jacobsen and Mrs. Reinhardt
Butter Braid's will be in next week.
GREO - We hope you can join us!
Crossing Guards are in high demand!

Polar Bear Players - The Lion King
Please click on the link for the volunteer opportunities. Both cast and crew parents can sign up for any of the spots. T-shirts forms and money are due February 4th.
Lion King - Marketing Opportunity
One of the ways we help defray our costs for our production is by selling ad space in our program. Use the ad for business, well wishes, memoriam or support of a cast member.

As always the American Heart Association thanks our Glacier Ridge students and families for their support.
Author Visit
Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students at Glacier Ridge will be part of a virtual Author Visit with Kelly Yang on Thursday, February 24, at 11:20 AM. Kelly Yang is well known for her book Front Desk, and the two other books in the series. She will be focusing on her book New From Here, which will come out on March 1. We are offering purchase of the new title, along with others by Kelly Yang. Order forms will be sent out as soon as the information is finalized. We will have autographed bookplates for those who purchase books through Abalabix Books. Please watch for more information!
It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's SUPER Library!
Here is information about TWO Winter Reading Programs:
Want to get a head start on our SUPER Reading Incentive? Students who complete reading activities and get BINGO on our "Winter Break Reading Bingo" board, can get a complimentary ticket to a Chicago Wolves game. Bingo boards and Wolves Game order forms (on the back) were sent home with every student in December. Call or mail in the Wolves Game order form for free tickets for every child that completed BINGO for game dates from January through April.
The Crystal Lake Public Library Winter Reading Program (Waddle You Read?) runs from January 17 through March 13. ANY student who attends school in Crystal Lake (along with their siblings) can participate in the Public Library Program. Information was presented during Encore classes on Thursday and Reading Logs were sent home. After 600 minutes, students earn a book and a stuffed animal! For more information, go to https://www.clpl.org/.
Minutes will count for BOTH reading programs. For now, KEEP READING!
