Craddock's Weekly Update
For the Week of May 15, 2023
Mrs. Menta's Message
Happy Sunday Craddock!
Mother Nature has delivered nicely for Mother's Day! Craddock sends lots of love to all of the mothers out there that play an integral part in ensuring your child's success each day at Craddock! From packing lunches, to getting materials for a "Star of the Week" poster to making sure there's money in the book bag for the book fair - THANK YOU! You are all recognized and appreciated more than you could ever know! Enjoy this special day with those you love most!
We have so many fun things coming up as we begin to wind down our spring benchmarking assessments and curriculum work. Our students have grown tremendously, not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Growth in those areas is most important if we want to help our students be successful both in and out of school. We are so proud of them all!
Please read below carefully. We have so many things happening the next nine days and this resource is the best way to catch the details on everything. Please be reminded that you can ALWAYS reach out to the Craddock office with any specific questions. Mrs. Kerchenski and I will help you with whatever you need!
Hang on for these last nine days! They are going to be a blast!
Incoming 1st Grade Parent Orientation Meeting, Monday, May 15 at 6:00 at Craddock
I am so excited to meet with you on Monday, 5/15 at 6:00 for our Incoming 1st Grade Parent Orientation. This meeting will be held in the Craddock gymnasium. You can park towards the front of the building and enter through door 1 or by the Board of Education/courtyard and enter through door 3.
Mrs. Kerchenski, our school secretary, Mrs. Ambrosia, our school counselor and I will be on hand to present some important information and answer any and all questions you might have. Our goal is to get you feeling comfortable and excited about your child's transition to Craddock for the 23-24 school year! Mrs. Goodman will send out the slides from the presentation to all families in case we have some who are not able to attend.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about this evening or 1st grade, don't hesitate to reach out using my contact information below. I look forward to seeing you on Monday, 5/15 at 6:00 at Craddock Elementary!
We are excited to welcome families of 2nd grade students in for our traditional Lunch on the Lawn celebration from 12:00-1:00 on Thursday, May 25, 2023. All students need an RSVP filled out whether family is attending or not. Thank you!
This special event is for 2nd graders only. Please fill out the RSVP form above accordingly and let us know who is coming and if your child is being picked up early or going home as normal. Thank you!
Field Day is Friday, May 19th!
Students should wear their classroom Aurora t-shirts, comfortable athletic shoes and sunscreen. We are also asking all students bring a water bottle labeled with his/her name. These will be able to be refilled as needed outside.
Many thanks to our PTO for all they are doing to make this super fun day happen! We can't wait!
Click above if you'd like to volunteer!
If at any time, you wish to change your child's mode of transportation for one or more days, you must fill out the Google form attached. We are no longer able to accept notes, phone calls and/or emails to do this, outside of emergencies. Thank you!
It is recommended you check this link often when making decisions about whether your child is buying lunch or not. The menu has been changing more often than we anticipated. Thank you!
We had a new computer system installed over Spring Break. We are finding that if you had linked a credit card to replenish money in your child's account, it was unlinked. Please go back into your settings and set it back up. Thank you!
A Note from Mrs. Ambrosia, School Counselor
I hope you’re savoring these last moments of the school year and all the fun that comes connected to these memorable times. Students will be exploring careers as a finale to their classroom guidance lessons this May. My hope is they can find an area of interest and further their knowledge of careers in that area.
The 23-24 school year will be a bittersweet one for me as I will have a change in my role and be supporting the students at Miller Elementary three days a week. The other two days, I will be moving to Leighton Elementary as the second school counselor. I am proud to work in a school district that recognizes student needs and works to make meaningful changes to support their school population. Craddock will a have a school counselor FIVE days each week, which has been welcomed and celebrated by all of us that work at this amazing school. I will work alongside the new counselor to support and assist with this transition. Students will likely still see me at Craddock as a result!
While I will dearly miss my current first graders, along with all of the kind, talented and loving staff that walk the halls of Craddock, I will be awaiting them as they graduate as second graders and transition to Leighton as third graders to support them for three more years! To my second grade families, I look forward to working with your students and being a familiar face at Leighton when they start back to school on August!
I am happy to help any student, parent or family with anything they need at any time! My contact number will still be the same at Miller next year: (330) 562-6199, ext. 1260. I can also be reached at email@example.com as needed! Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Mrs. Lindsey Ambrosia
