EHS Community Day - Tuesday, May 17
We are looking forward to our first ever EHS Community Day on Tuesday, May 17. We will be altering our school schedule on this day to do the following things: welcome our incoming Freshmen class, host an activity fair / provide tours for these 8th graders, show our Senior awards video, and participate in the Amazing Race in the afternoon. This day will be a great opportunity for all of our staff and students to come together and celebrate an amazing year at EHS.
A promotional video was shown in PAWS this week, to provide information to students about what the Amazing Race is and how to compete. Team forms are available in the Counseling Office and students are starting to form their teams for the Amazing Race. We will also use PAWS classes as an avenue for students that want to participate, but are having a difficult time finding a team. There is no cost to participate and forms are due Monday May 16 after school.
In the past, we have done the Amazing Race in the evening, but this year we wanted to create an opportunity for more students to get involved by hosting a school-wide event in the afternoon. Students unable to participate in the race may observe from the stadium stands, be in the student commons for a study hall, or if excused – using the permission form available at the Attendance Office, may go home. Our goal is for all students to compete or watch… and have some fun.

Planning for the End of Spring Trimester - June 8 is our last student day!
Teachers will not be giving Finals early to grades 9, 10 and 11. If a student is absent on June 7 or 8 the teacher should be informed and will leave the Final Assessment with our Registrar in Counseling. The student would be able to come in during the summer to make up that assessment. Once the teacher returns to grade the work a final grade in the class will be determined.

COVID-19 Data Shared on Dashboard
Specific COVID-19 information, including data of student positive cases, school-specific cases, county cases and vaccination rate, is updated weekly on our COVID-19 Dashboard available on all school websites. (Be sure to scroll down the site until you can click on High Schools). School COVID-19 teams will no longer send case notifications to families. Families must maintain personal mitigation efforts, with or without a notification , and direct their attention to monitoring symptoms, keeping students home when sick and frequent screening as necessary.
We need all community members to care for each other and their community by practicing universal precautions:
- Monitor for symptoms every day
- Stay home when sick and test
- Get vaccinated and boosted as soon as you are eligible
- Test frequently for COVID
These mitigation strategies are repeated frequently to members of our learning community, but remain the most effective strategy. We recommend parents to check the COVID-19 dashboard regularly for updates, as well as using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s daily county case rate tracker.
